The Oregonian/OregonLive Wins 2 Regional Emmys With Polar Bear Doc

The Oregonion/Oregon Live’s, Kale Williams, won a Reporting Emmy over the week end for his documentary film, “Thin Ice: A Polar Bear’s Plight” and Dave Killen received the Regional Emmy for direction of the film.  The doc was part of the bigger, Project Nora, that the Oregonian and Oregon Live have been reporting on since Nora was abandoned by her mother.

Fastlife: An Oregon Family and Racing Documentary Series

 

A local auto dealer and his filmmaker wife have launched a documentary series on the international stage of Amazon Prime available for streaming now.

Derek DeBoer, an Oregon auto dealer, and his wife Brooke, a Southern Oregon Filmmaker teamed up in 2014 to create Fastlife, a show about a family striving to live their dreams amidst all the realities of every day life.

Listen to Alex Bulkley, co-owner of ShadowMachine, talking with Dave Miller, OPB’s Think Out Loud ,  discussing what the studio has been up to since they moved up to Portland in 2015.

In 2015, the animation production house, ShadowMachine, opened a satellite studio in Portland. Since then, they’ve produced multiple projects. Most recently, they have worked in collaboration with the WWE to create“Dallas and Robo,” a cartoon that was just released on YouTube Red. A New #OregonMade Mural And Film Poster Exhibit For The Portland International Airport

 

The new #OregonMade Film History Mural and Poster Exhibit is located in the Portland International Airport’s south pedestrian tunnel which connects the parking garage to the terminal (underground between baggage claims 3 and 4.) It  provides travelers with over 160 uninterrupted feet ofmural art and posters, representing a small collection of Oregon’s rich film hist ory. By creating  this exhibit, we hope to aptly celebrate the unique and varied locations Oregon has to offer, the projects that have called Oregon home over the years, and the professional production communities that come together to make Oregon so film-friendly. LOCAL FILMMAKER JOSH HOFFMAN TO SCREEN UNIQUE HORROR FILM AT THE PORTLAND UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL

 

Bloated Cat Productions and Penguin Films bring local filmmaker Josh Hoffman’s latest horror feature film, UNDER THE KNIFE, to the Portland Underground Film Festival on Sunday, May 20th at 9pm.  As the Closing Film for PUFF, UNDER THE KNIFE, will play in the historic Clinton Street Theater and be followed by a Q and A with the director.  Fresh off of its much-talked-about World Premiere in Japan at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in March, the film will have its North American Premiere at this gem of a festival here in Portland. POWGirls Announces Summer 2018 Workshops

POWGirls offers workshops in video production, cinematography, audio recording, set lighting, digital editing and media literacy for girls and non-binary youth ages 15-19. Our instructors are working media producers who inspire participants to be creative, tech-savvy leaders who will help realize gender equity in the film industry. All films produced during POWGirls workshops are screened at the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Film Fest).

“Leave No Trace” Selected For Director’s Fortnight At Cannes


Debra Granik’s #OregonMade “Leave No Trace” is one of 50 films that have been selected to screen during the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Fetsival this year.  “Leave No Trace”  already premiered at Sundance and received rave reviews.  Sony Pictures Worldwide was quick to acquire international rights, and Bleecker Sreet has aquired North Americn rights. “Leave No Trace,” set in Portland’s Forest Park, tells the tale of  Will and his teenage daughter, Tom, who “have lived off the grid, blissfully undetected by authorities in a vast nature reserve on the edge of Portland. When a film crew arrives at a location it’s like a small army moving in. The industry in the northwest is vibrant and crews now are well versed even with the small market that exists here.
