It sounds like a cliché but it’s very true. Innovation is a key ingredient to future economic growth. This is as true in the media industry as it is any other. Over the past few years Oregon has seen several promising media technology companies start up. One such company is Elemental Technologies, which is headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2006 by CEO Sam Blackman, Chief Technology Officer Jesse Rosenzweig, and Chief Architect Brian Lewis, Elemental has raised over $16 million in financing, which has directly resulted in Elemental’s rapid ascension to become one of the world’s leaders in software designed for video content creation. At last night’s annual meeting we showed off a collection of videos prior to the meeting. Many people were making their way into the room and may have missed this fantastic video that our friends from Electric Entertainment created. We’ve been looking for a fresh way to show off the variety of locations in the area and what better way than to see the locations they way they were shot on “Leverage”? We can’t wait to see what they will shoot next year when they are actually supposed to be in Portland (as was announced last night). Next year for season 5 of “Leverage,” expect a few changes including a new location for the show’s stages. The truth is the new space is actually an old one that has been frequently used as a stage for several features in the past (“Extraordinary Measures,” “Twilight,” and “Untraceable”). Before this season, the space down in Clackamas was 60,000 square feet of open warehouse space which wasn’t ideal for a TV series. This fall the team at “Leverage” took over the space and are dividing it into three usable production spaces. Continue reading... ““Leverage” Readies to Move into a New Stage Space for Season 5”
News came out late on Monday that the Portland based NBC drama “Grimm” has been picked up for a full season order with another nine episodes. The news was picked up and spread through Twitter but it looks like the original announcement came on the Entertainment Weekly Site here.
NBC Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt said
“This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”
We could not have been happier when NBC Universal contacted us to collaborate on their greening efforts for the series, Grimm. We immediately recognized this particular show as a good match and unique opportunity to put the foundation of our previous work in identifying green vendors and services to good use.
You only need to glance at the comments posted on this YouTube clip to see how this particular commercial, showing off the new Audi A6, has people fired up! But non-the-less, we like car commercials and we have many shooting here to know! They often have healthy budgets and of course, provide local jobs. We make an effort to promote the versatile roads of Oregon and in some ways it’s not that difficult; beautiful high desert, mountains, beaches, urban scenes, small towns and an easy distance between them. Today in the Hollywood Reporter, IFC officially announced the air date for the second season of “Portlandia”. The show will premiere on January 9 at 10:00PM. With the announcement came mention of more guest stars set to appear in the second season including Tim Robbins, Kristen Wiig and “30 Rock’s” Jack McBrayer. Knowing that there were as many as 20 guest stars slated to appear in this second season, we can’t wait to hear who else showed up in Portland to do a bit on the show.
