Ashland, Ore.—The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) today announced a multi-part transmedia showcase to be unveiled as part of the 12th annual festival, April 4 – 8, 2013 in Ashland. Created to showcase new forms of digital and interactive storytelling, the program has been developed in collaboration with Southern Oregon University’s Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA) program, and is sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Film and Television, Project A, the Portland Incubator Experiment (P.I.E.), and Second Story Interactive Studios. Since then it has gone to the Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, the Montreal HorrorFest in Canada, Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay, Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in the USA, and Celluloid Screams in the UK. We felt warm embraces by local and regional audiences, were humbled with the presence of more guest artists than ever, and saw a 30% increase in attendance. EOFF was one of the first festivals to utilize Skype technology for its Q/As. We’re getting lots of interest in the annual meeting and for good reason! It’s going to be a great night! You’re going to want to get there early. Second Story is this year’s recipient of our “Innovation In Media Arts Award” so we’re thrilled to have them show off their work.
