Film/TV Production Industry Celebrates Legislative Success Friday

Oregon’s film and television production Industry prepares for expansion thanks to 67% increase in funds designed to recruit projects to Oregon – but first, a party with performance from Oregon blues legend Curtis Salgado.

Portland’s Stillmotion Wins Emmy Award


Stillmotion
, a team of filmmakers based in Portland, Oregon, won their fourth Emmy Award at the 34th Annual Sports Emmy Award Ceremony on May 7th, 2013.

Stillmotion worked alongside CBS Sports’ Pete Radovich Jr., Stephen Karsik, and Gareth Hughes to produce the film “One Heartbeat” which garnered the award as the most Outstanding Edited Sports Special.

New Thriller “Compound Fracture” Screening at the Hollywood Theatre May 26th

One Night Only (May 26th) Limited Screening of New Thriller COMPOUND FRACTURE with Actor/Producer Tyler Mane (Sabretooth, Michael Myers) in Attendance.

Tyler Mane will personally screen his new film, Compound Fracture, May 26th in Portland, OR at the Hollywood Theatre. This will be one of the“one night only” stops on the Limited Meet & Greet Screening tour in the U.S. and Canada.

Mane, known primarily for his acting career (his credits include, Michael Meyers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween & Halloween II, Troy, The Scorpion King, Joe Dirt, X-Men), co-wrote, produced and co-stars in this new supernatural thriller.

Women’s Vision Grant – Accepting Applications

The 2013 Women’s Vision Grant is accepting applications through July 31st.

The Women’s Vision Grant provides financial support to women creating media in Oregon and SW Washington (Clark County.) This project-based grant aids in a current production, while fostering the artist’s professional and personal development. The grant is offered annually through Women in Film, Portland (WIF-PDX.)  Originally entitled The Faerie Godmother Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, founded in 2005 by Vikki Mee, the grant became the Faerie Godmother Production Grant through Women in Film, Portland, and is now the Women’s Vision Grant. Early last year, when Lori Lewis ran into Leverage producer Paul Bernard at a Hollywood Theater event, “He flat-out asked,” recalls Lewis, “Are you back yet?” The erstwhile casting director had to admit to her urge to return to the work she adores, promising, “Next year, after knee surgery.” This week, Oregon’s film industry welcomes Lori Lewis, plus one new knee, back into the casting scene.
