QDoc Film Festival Returns May 18-21 at the Hollywood Theatre! 4 Days, 12 Films, 1 Special Weekend

Going on its 11th year, QDoc is the only film festival in the United States (and one of only two in the world) devoted exclusively to LGBTQ documentaries. From historical films to personal stories; artist biographies to experimental works; topical films to controversial works, QDoc has presented award-winning films, fresh from top-tier festivals, for more than a decade.

The four-day festival kicks of Thursday, May 18 at the historic Hollywood Theatre and continues through May 21 with 11 additional films, broadly exploring LGBTQ history, culture and politics. Ashland Independent Film Festival to Announce Full Line-up at Festival Preview Night and Offers a Sneak Peek at 10 Highlights

The Ashland Independent Film Festival will announce its 2017 film and event lineup at their Festival Preview Night on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the SOU Music Recital Hall in Ashland. This is the first chance to see clips from festival films, pick up the Pocket Guide, and get insider information on special guests and new events for AIFF2017. This event is FREE, and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Call for Entries for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival

– The Northwest Film Center asks filmmakers based in the Northwest region to submit their recent work for consideration for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival (NW Fest). The Festival is the longest running Festival in the region and was named one of Moviemaker Magazine’s Top 20 Coolest Festivals in 2013.

Portland, Oregon – February 4, 2016 – The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (a.k.a. POWFest) is pleased to announce this year’s guest of honor, award-winning director and gender equality advocate, Catherine Hardwicke, who will be in attendance throughout the festival taking place March 3 – 6, at The Hollywood Theatre.  

Hardwicke’s direction of the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novel, Twilight, launched the worldwide blockbuster franchise, The Twilight Saga and earned nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office and made her made one of the most commercially successful women film directors. Subtitled “How an Oregon Community Helped Create a Hollywood Blockbuster (or Two) On a ‘B’ Drive-In Movie Budget”; this next generation of young Oregon filmmakers, formerly from the University of Oregon, stepped up and optioned, filmed and edited Katherine Wilson’s documentary screenplay, as well as licensed her Oregon Film Factory Movie Museum images and artifacts.
