This media release just came out about the next installment of Bent Image Lab’s holiday specials. You’ll remember that last year Bent produced the original “Jingle All the Way” and this year they have already produced Hallmark’s “Hoops and Yo Yo” Halloween special. This marks their third project with the Hallmark Channel.
Bent Image Lab and Hallmark Channel are excited to present “Jingle and Bell’s Christmas Star” the sequel to the critically acclaimed stop motion production “Jingle All the Way”.
Airing this Friday, October 26, 2012 7pm/6pm central on Hallmark Channel …
Bent Image Lab and Hallmark have joined forces once again this time to produce the 2D animated comedy “hoops&yoyo’s Haunted Halloween”. Based off of the popular Hallmark e- card characters, the “hoops&yoyo” TV Special was directed by Bent’s Rob Shaw and features the hilarious pink cat and green bunny getting trapped in a haunted mall on Halloween night.
For the next video of the series (above), the Oregon Film Summer Interns talk to both Bent Image Lab and Hive-FX about their recent animation and visual effects (VFX) work.
With the consistent production of successful animation and VFX work in Portland, Bent Image Lab and Hive-FX are among the most active and respected animation/VFX companies in the state. Football (Soccer) insanity is personified in a new 3D collaboration between Santo, (Buenos Aires, London, Milan) and Bent Image Lab, (Portland Oregon). Helmed by mixed-media maestro Carlos Lascano, “Spirit of the Euro” is an outrageous romp through stylized landscapes of Eastern Europe with an eccentric cast of chameleonic characters. The Coke-drinking, silly dancing, trumpet blowing, costume wearing, song chanting, stranger hugging football fans are a unique combination of CG animation and real actors’ eyes—a first for Coca-Cola, and a ground breaking technique for cinema 3D stereo. “Portlandia” recently teamed up with Portland animation house Bent Image Lab to produce a stop-motion animated segment featuring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein as rats attempting to break into a zero packaging grocery store. In “Zero Rats,” the animators at Bent Image Lab did a great job of translating the improvised sketch comedy into animation. As you can see in the picture below, the artists at Bent also created some beautifully intricate set pieces.
If Trever Stewart runs into a room and says to you, “Quick, play dead.” You might just unthinkingly throw yourself on the ground and imagine that there are big, black Xs covering your eye sockets.
He’s that persuasive.
And, since moving to Portland from Los Angeles, Mr. Stewart (Associate Producer of Special Projects, Bent Image Labs) has learned to use his impressive powers for good, specifically, for the good of local animation.
A nice review in The New York Times for the holiday special, “Jingle All The Way”. Bent Image Lab, a Portland, Oregon company, produced this 22 minute animated short for the Hallmark Channel over a six month period. It is set to premier this Friday 25th.
