EOFF2011 Full Event Schedule

[La Grande, Oregon] The Eastern Oregon Film Festival will celebrate its 3rd annual event October 20-22 in beautiful downtown La Grande, Oregon. The 3-day event features 2 spectacular independent films — 10 features and 10 short films, 7 of the Northwest’s most notable up-and-coming indie bands, and 3 after-parties at some of La Grande’s best venues.

Featured films for this yearʼs program include the NW Premiere of Jon Foyʼs Sundance winning documentary ʻResurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Tonybee Tilesʼ, the West Coast Premiere of Tristan Pattersonʼs moving and intimate SXSW winner, ʻDragonslayerʼ, and Evan Glodell’s innovative and thrilling low-budget phenom, ʻBellflowerʼ.

Call for submissions: 2012 OpenLens Festival (Eugene)

(Eugene, Oregon)  The 2012 OpenLens Festival seeks submissions by Oregon filmmakers for its eighth annual celebration of the short film genre to be held in Eugene, January 28-29, 2012.  Prizes include: $500 Jury Award, $200 Jury Honorable Mention, and $100 Audience Choice Award. Submissions are limited to 15 minutes with films 10 minutes or less preferred.

Oregon resident filmmakers are encouraged to submit their best work to what has become Eugene’s premier winter film festival hosted by the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA).

Three Spots Left for TV/Film Hair Workshop

SEATTLE–Many industry projects require makeup artists to also perform as a production’s hairstylist.

Colour Box Makeup Studios, which has offered four film/TV makeup workshops in Portland and Seattle over the last two years, is hosting an Oct. 8 workshop in Seattle that broadens makeup artists’ hairstyling skills allowing them to offer a more “complete package” to potential employers.

The class, which is limited to 12 students, is currently enrolling and has three spots still available. It is hosted by 2011 Emmy nominee and Colour Box founder Kerry Herta and veteran celebrity hairstylist Lara Cilento.

TRON Legacy “Byte by Byte”: Sunday at Mission Theatre in Portland

This Sunday it’s a meeting of the post-production kind, as OMPA teams up with AEPDX and 3dpdx to host visual effects artist Bradley G Munkowitz, to discuss his and his shop’s work on “TRON Legacy: Byte by Byte”, where Munkowitz (aka: GMUNK) takes apart the VFX of TRON Legacy, at the Mission Theatre in Portland.

For 14 months, Munkowitz and a team of 5 graphic all-stars infiltrated Digital Domain’s vfx pipeline and pushed through over 8 minutes of on screen graphics for the film TRON Legacy.

THE NORTHWEST FILM CENTER PRESENTS “MADE IN PORTLAND” SHORTS PROGRAM IN SAPPORO, JAPAN

Portland, OR—The Northwest Film Center is bringing Portland filmmakers into the international spotlight through its presentation of the “Made in Portland” short film program, screening in Sapporo, Japan, as part of the 6th Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market, October 5 – 10, 2011.

Since 1971, the Film Center has worked to support and celebrate Northwest filmmaking.  The Film Center has been a source of essential funding for numerous artists, administering the Oregon Media Arts Fellowship and serving as a fiscal agent for artists seeking non-profit sponsorship.

IFC Officially Announces 2nd Season Portlandia Air Date and Guest Stars

Today in the Hollywood Reporter, IFC officially announced the air date for the second season of “Portlandia”.  The show will premiere on January 9 at 10:00PM.  With the announcement came mention of more guest stars set to appear in the second season including Tim Robbins, Kristen Wiig and “30 Rock’s” Jack McBrayer.  Knowing that there were as many as 20 guest stars slated to appear in this second season, we can’t wait to hear who else showed up in Portland to do a bit on the show.

Lane Comunity College to Host Transit Media Arts Conference

The Lane Community College Media Arts Department and Chambers Family Foundation present the Transit 2011 Media Arts Conference from October 7-8 at the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19 Room 102, Lane main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene.
The two-day conference features a variety of experts, speakers and panelists from throughout the Western United States to present on broad range of topics from emerging trends in media arts to working in major film studios to writing scripts to the politics of the music industry.

Jalal Jemison joins Bent Image Lab as Head of Compositing/Lead Colorist

Bent Image Lab recently cemented Visual FX Artist Jalal Jemison as its new head of compositing and lead colorist. Jemison whose previous work includes numerous Hollywood projects such as Pineapple Express, Borat and most currently Get Him to the Greek and the documentary How to Die in Oregon brings his mastery of post production tools and techniques to the world of commercials, television programs, music videos and motion graphics.

Drawn to the desktop filmmaking movement of the 90’s, Jemison began learning about visual effects while attending UC Santa Cruz.

Eastern Oregon Film Festival Releases Music Program for October’s 3rd Annual Festival

EOFF2011 releases headlining musicians to accompany 3 nights of independent cinema in Eastern Oregon. The 2011 Eastern Oregon Film Festival will be held on October 20th – October 22nd in historic downtown La Grande, Oregon.  The three day event features award winning independent cinema and hottest up and coming bands from the northwest.

EOFF after-parties will feature the likes of Portlandʼs Jared Mees & The Grown Children, Boiseʼs Hillfolk Noir, Finn Riggins, and Atomic Mama, La Grandeʼs own, Elidila and Sons of Guns, and from Pendleton, Oregon – J.D.
