Koerner Camera Systems, the premier supplier of high-end cinema gear for motion picture, television and commercial productions in the Pacific Northwest, will be hosting a first-of-its-its-kind exposition at their new facility in Southeast Portland. The latest optics from Angenieux, Arri, Canon, Cooke, Fujinon, IB/E, Kish, Leica, Lomo Illumina, P+S Technik, Raptor, Sigma, Tokina, and Zeiss were on display for the largest lens event in the history of the Pacific Northwest.

Matt Schulte and Lower Boom are co-producing an innovative documentary series that takes audiences on an international tour of independent filmmaking: JUMP THE FENCE – Around the World in 7 films.

Hosts Molly Elizabeth Parker, 29, Lacy Allen, 26, and Britt Harris, 30, actors and best friends, will work in 7 different films, in 7 different countries, from 7 award-winning directors, over 7 months.

They are traveling to Brazil, Norway, China, Greece, United States, Israel, and Australia to work on a wide variety of movies.

The recently-launched SmashTheHive Studio in SE Portland has just debuted its first production —the “My American Waistline” animated comedy series. This fearless, unapologetic and politically-incorrect collection of bite-size shorts leaves no muffin top unturned or moob unchafed in its unsparing quest to expose America’s fixation on over-eating, under-eating, ripped abs, apple bottoms and surgical enhancement.

The project is the brainchild of SmashTheHive founder and award-winning sound designer Jason Edwards, whose credits include ten independent features, numerous animated shorts and three major network television series.

Double Feature – Ekimmu/The Dead Lust & The Black Sea

Filmmaker Andy Koontz’s debut feature Ekimmu/The Dead Lust will screen at the Clinton Street Theater on Saturday May 6th as a double feature with Brian Padian’s debut feature film The Black Sea Movie. Both films were made independently and took over a decade to be fully realized with minimal resources. But the films share something else in common: both directors are also brain tumor survivors. “We met online and realized we had these things in common and wanted to have a screening to celebrate cinema and being alive” says Padian.

Filmmaker Beth Harrington Announces New Project – The Musicianer

On the heels of her successful music documentary, The Winding Stream – The Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music, filmmaker Beth Harrington is pleased to announce that she and her team are in pre-production on a new project. The Musicianer will be a music-based narrative digital series that builds on the research done on old-time music during the making of the The Winding Stream, and takes the subject matter in new and surprising directions.

The Musicianer tells the story of a 1920s-era singer who inadvertently becomes immortal.
