DisOrient Asian American Film Fest Of Oregon – Begins This Week In Eugene

The 12th Annual Disorient Asian America, Film Festival begins April 21 and runs through 23.

“DisOrient is a social justice film festival that takes place at the Bijou Art Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon.  It is dedicated to deconstructing the media stereotypes of Asians and Asian Americans as “Orientals”. We believe in the power of film-as-art to educate, heal and improve the lives of people by giving voice to our experiences.”

CASTING CALL: Extras for New Alan Ball HBO Series

PORTLAND CASTING COMPANY SEEKING EXTRAS OF ALL TYPES FOR NEW HBO SERIES

Untitled Alan Ball HBO Drama series is scheduled to shoot in Portland April 24-26; open casting call this Saturday

PORTLAND, ORE. Cast Iron Studios, a Portland-based film and television casting company, announced today that it is seeking general background performers, experienced stand-ins, photo doubles, Portland hipster types, and extras who own vehicles, bicycles and pets for Alan Ball’s new HBO drama series.

The series will shoot scenes in the Portland area April 24-26, 2017.

Governor Brown Dedicates Grove Of Trees To #ThankYouGrimm!

This afternoon, Governor Kate Brown joined members of the “Grimm” cast and crew along with the City of Portland, State of Oregon elected officials, and representatives from  Oregon Film, Friends of Trees, Friends of Pier Park and Comcast/NBC. They all came together to plant a small grove of trees in beautiful Pier Park, North Portland, creating a lasting tribute to the work and the legacy of the long running show.

Ashland Independent Film Festival Announces Juried and Audience Award Winners

The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) announced the highly anticipated juried and audience award-winning films for work screened at the 16th annual festival, April 6-10, 2017. “I’m particularly pleased that the audience chose different films to award than the juries,” said festival director Richard Herskowitz. “Since many of our films this year deserved special recognition, I’m glad we were able to hand out local artisan Dennis DeBey’s beautiful statuette to so many deserving artists.”

Nicalis Inc. Acquires Eugene’s Game Studio Cowboy Color

Nicalis Inc., developer and publisher of such video games as Cave Story, 1001 Spikes and The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, announced  that it has acquired two talented and diverse game development studios: Irvine, California-based SuperVillain Studios and Cowboy Color of Eugene, Oregon.

Cowboy Color was founded in 2015, but in less than two years its team has produced a surprising number of retro-inspired games, including Legend of Ball, Handsome Mr. Frog and the frenetic multiplayer deathmatch game ChargeShot.

This Fall Animating Life:The Art, Science, and Wonder of LAIKA Comes to Portland Art Museum

Behind the scenes, the Oregon animation studio, LAIKA, is an amazing collection of animators, artists, cutting-edge tech, and good, old-fashioned story-telling, and this fall you will be able to explore LAIKA’s “creative process” from start to finish at the Portland Art Museum.

The Northwest Film Center and the Portland Art Museum have partnered with LAIKA to present the immersive experience.

Timberline Lodge Hosting New “Experiential” Horror Film Fest!

screen-shot-2016-11-02-at-9-54-59-amThe Overlook Film Festival is about to begin (April 27-30) at Timberline Lodge, on the flanks of Mount Hood.  The lodge exterior stood in for the fictitious “Overlook Hotel” in Kubrick’s ’80’s classic horror movie, “The Shining“, and has drawn fans from all over the world to see the impressive pre-WWII 1930’s building.

The festival will be “presenting superior film programming with an expanded focus on experiential events, the festival showcases exciting new work in new and classic independent horror cinema alongside the latest in interactive and live shows for a fully immersive weekend.

#ThankYouGrimm – Governor To Unveil Grove Of Trees

Next week, Governor Kate Brown, will unveil a grove of trees in a north Portland park, as a way to permanently thank many departments in the City of Portland, and to celebrate the crew, vendors and service people of Oregon that made it possible for the show to be such a success.

Friends of Trees will be planting; Hamamelis virginiana- Witch-hazel, Crataegus doiuglassii-  Black Hawthorn and Prunus virginiana ‘Canada Red’- Canada Chokecherry, in a small grove, befitting of the show.
