SOAR, a new documentary featuring local dancers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd and directed by local filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais, will premiere on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 pm.  The screening will take place at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland), and will feature a Q&A with the director Susan Hess Logeais as well as co-producers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd. Tickets are available in advance at the Hollywood Theatre website or at the door for $10, $5 for Students (with ID). Portland-Based Film “Birds of Neptune” Has Acquired Distribution Through Brinkvision

 

BONposterplainSteven Richter’s feature film “Birds of Neptune” has been acquired by Brinkvision for US distribution.  The film is scheduled to be released on DVD and VOD in early 2016.

The award winning film “Birds of Neptune” was shot in Portland, Oregon with an all local cast and crew and all local vendors.  It premiered at Slamdance early this year and has since gone on to screen at festivals throughout the US  and was the opening night film at the Portland Film Festival. Casting Talent Workshop: October 24th, 10AM-4Pm, $75.

If you have ever wondered how the casting process works or could use some guidance on better communicating with actors, this one-day workshop with director Scott Ballard, is a great place to start. Over the course of the day, workshop particpants will serve as the director in a mock casting session with professional actors and get inside the art and the technique of assessing and selecting the right talent.

Film Composing Studio With Mark Orton

731395_300x300The Northwest Film Center is holding a four day intensive studio on composing for film from October 22-25. Taught by Nebraska composer Mark Orton, and for filmmakers and musicians of all experience levels. Students will spend days one and two at the Film Center getting an overview of the particularities of film composing and to establish filmmaker-musician teams. Days three and four will be held at Dead Aunt Thelma’s Studio in SE Portland and will be devoted to active composing for picture along with continuous director/composer score-feedback sessions, followed by in-studio live recording and mixing of the score. A24 Picked Up US Rights To “Green Room”

the_green_room A24 has picked up the US rights to “Green Room” before it premieres (N. American) at the Toronto Film Festival this September.

Green Room” was shot and produced in Oregon, and is  the latest thriller Jeremy Saulnier (“Blue Ruin”) and produced by Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani and Victor Moyers, and starring Patrick Stewart and Anton Yelchin.  It’s set to have it’s theatrical release spring 2016. It was also part of this year’s Cannes Director’s Fortnight .

“Birds of Neptune” Will Screen Opening Night At The Portland Film Festival

 

BONposterplainBirds of Neptune, an independent film by Steven Richter, will be the Opening Night narrative feature at this year’s Portland Film Festival.

“Significant Mother” Will Premiere August 3 On The CW August

Richard Keith and Erin Cardillo created this new comedy series, set in Portland, that features a restaurant themed backdrop (which Portland plays perfectly) starring, Jonathan Silverman (“Weekend at Bernies”),  Krista Allen (“The LA Complex”), Nathaniel Buzolic (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Emma Fitzpatrick (“The Social Network”). Oregon Live, reported that Cardillo and Keith “really wanted to do a show that had a restaurant element,” “Rich and I are both big foodies.
