WS_Web_HeaderBeth Harrington Productions & Argot Pictures Announce the Theatrical Release of The Winding Stream

Argot Pictures and Indie filmmaker Beth Harrington are pleased to announce that her latest music documentary film, The Winding Stream – The Carters, The Cashes and the Course of Country Music, will begin its theatrical release in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, September 17th at the historic Hollywood Theatre. The screening will include a Q&A with director/producer Beth Harrington and a special pre-show performance by the Johnny Cash tribute band—Counterfeit Cash. Additional screening dates and cities available on the Argot Pictures website.

The film tells the story of the American roots music dynasty at the heart of Americana music – The Original Carter Family. The Carters didn’t just play the music of their Virginia hill country upbringing. They helped invent it and influenced generations of musicians along the way. These musicians included one young man who, at first blush, seemed more renegade than reverent adherent. He would be the one to lift up the Carter legacy – Johnny Cash. The story of how the family rallied to help him beat back the demon of substance abuse and how he promoted the Carters name and music is one of great reciprocity and love.

The film features one of the Man in Black’s last interviews, as well as conversations and performances by Rosanne Cash, John Prine, George Jones, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Kris Kristofferson, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sheryl Crow and many more.

Tickets will go on-sale September 1, 2015 and are $8 for the screening and are available at and the Hollywood Theatre box office.

The soundtrack for the film will release October 16th via Omnivore Recording. The soundtrack can be pre-ordered now.
