FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Los Angeles, March 22, 2011 – Palisades Tartan announced today that SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS, Matt McCormick’s debut feature, which stars Indie rock talents James Mercer from the Shins and Carrie Brownstein, vocalist/guitarist for Wild Flag and the now defunct Sleater-Kinney will open the Hollywood Theater in Portland on March 25th before opening wider across the country.

Big Turnout for Screening of “Meek’s Cutoff”

It was a great evening last night in Salem as the special screening of “Meek’s Cutoff” was bigger than anticipated.  We’re waiting on the final tally of ticket sales but we’re expecting between 400 and 500 total tickets were sold for the event.  Prior to the screening we hosted a reception for several legislators, industry members, and cultural trust board members.  We were expecting about 10 legislators to come to the event but my last count was 16 including Senate President Peter Courtney and Speaker of the House Arnie Roblan.  Continue reading... “Big Turnout for Screening of “Meek’s Cutoff””

“Franklin Wunder” Screening in Astoria

After receiving good reviews at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, the new independent movie, “FRANKLIN WUNDER” will have a second advance screening at 3pm on Sunday, April 3rd, at the Columbian Theatre in Astoria.  Filmed in Portland & Astoria, the film is the tender story of a dying man searching for some meaning to his past … and of a young woman he meets searching for a meaning to her future.  The screening is open to the public. Theatrical Trailer for “Meek’s Cutoff”

We noticed this weekend that the theatrical trailer for Kelly Reichardt’s feature film “Meek’s Cutoff” is now online.   “Meek’s Cutoff” is due in theaters this April.  More details on the film can be found here.

According to the film’s website, “Meek’s” will be in Portland on April 22 (Fox Tower), Bend on May 13 (Regal Pilot Butte 6), and Salem on May 13 (Salem Cinema).

Oregon Producer Named Honorary Co-chair of Wisconsin Film Festival

I’m proud to announce that I have been invited to be an honorary co-chair of the 2011 Beloit International Film Festival.  Affectionately known as BIFF, the festival is in its sixth year and has been touted as a “must-attend event” by Moviemaker Magazine showcasing both big releases and indie films. The festival has played host to filmmakers from around the world and, in a short time, has established itself as a truly international festival.
