The first spinoff of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” began airing begin airing this September – “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” and premiered to 1.54 million viewers.
The show chronicles 4 families that fish for Dungeness crab in the treacherous, beautiful and rugged Oregon Coast. The show follows Newport locals; Marc Sehlbach; Mikey Retherford, Jr.; Chris Retherford; Gary Ripka, his son, Kenny Ripka; and Jonny Law.

#OregonMadeShows Exibit
In collaboration with PDXART, and many other partners (please see list below) a new exhibit is up on Concourse E, at the Portland International Airport this week. The exhibit showcases “vignettes” of artifacts, props and images from just a few of the 400+ feature films & television shows that have utilized Oregon as their production backdrop over the years. From the early silent era films like “Fisherman’s Bride” (shot in Astoria, 1908), to “Grimm”, the popular NBC television series currently shooting in Portland, Oregon has played an important role in production. Brownsville is celebrating today! “Stand By Me” turns 30 – “The anniversary event is featuring a 5K walk/run as a memorial to Ray Brower, interviews with some of the cast & crew (including the train engineer from the trestle scene), a vintage car cruise in and vintage trailer open house, an authentic sock hop in the historic Brownsville gym, an amateur blueberry pie eating contest, a Geocache Challenge, a replica of the tree house and guided walking tours. The beautiful and interesting Thompson Mill’s Oregon State Heritage Site played host to the band, Mimicking Birds, in the latest OPB Music’s “Road Sessions” series.
“Thompson’s Mills is a Oregon State Heritage Site in Linn County near the town of Shedd. More than 150 years old, it’s the oldest water-powered grain mill in Oregon, where the waters of Calapooia River drive turbines you can still see running today for demonstrations.
Known for their hushed, ethereal music, Portland band Mimicking Birds play their song “Water Under Burned Bridges” at the mill, for the final video in our Road Sessions series. The small town of Brownsville, Oregon celebrated the classic movie Stand By Me on Saturday July 23, 2016. The Falls:Covenant of Grace, the third installment of The Falls series hopes to film in Portland this summer. It is a trilogy written and directed by Jon Garcia about two gay Mormon men and the struggles of LGBT individuals of faith. It’s been nearly a year since Adult Swim Toonami team tapped Hinge‘s Portland-based studio to produce show bumpers and the season finale of Toonami Intruder II, where the show’s venerable host TOM, and his AI co-host SARA, crash land on an unknown planet to find a new base of operations. “Lean On Pete“, Willy Vlautin’s novel, adapted into a screenplay by writer-director, Andrew Haigh (“Looking”) will film in Oregon this summer.
