The short film Nowheres Wolf: A Call Not Answered is inspired by the life of Oregon’s famous wolf named Journey, aka OR-7. The film is mid-production and starting to take off, hitting some heartfelt points in the film and animation industry including developing non-toxic building materials for artists and makers as well as advocating for local wildlife.

This intensive is taught by Luke Zwanziger and will give you an overview of the production gear in the live video studio at Curious Comedy Theater. In this 4 hour intensive you get a crash course on the basics of how to operate a Tricaster 8000 AE, PTZ Cameras, basic live audio control, Live Video Direct, Technical Direct, and Camera Operate for a live show as well as how to create a livestream for Facebook or YouTube.

The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival is excited to announce the POWGirls workshops for spring and summer of 2019. The POWGirls Media Education Program launched in March of 2014 and has hosted thirteen successful workshops, producing 19 films and serving over 100 girls and non-binary youth in the Portland metro area.
Our mission is to help girls and non-binary youth, 15-19, realize their power, creativity and voice in media production and encourage them to explore opportunities as future media-makers. Juri Stanossek started his career in 1994. Since then he’s supervised more than 40 movies for TV and cinema. He acted as Visual Effects Supervisor at Elektrofilm from 2004 to 2008 and then moved forward to Pixomondo Stuttgart, where he supervised international productions like “Ghostwriter” (2010), “Hugo Cabret” (2011) , “Game of Thrones” (2012) and “Rush” (2013).

Once again local filmmaker, producer, and DP Scott Ballard brings his directing expertise to students, community members, and emerging filmmakers at the Northwest Film Center for an intensive studio class on Film Directing. Over five consecutive days, participants will shoot and direct a scene(s) with professional actors and a small crew. POWGirls offers workshops in video production, cinematography, audio recording, set lighting, digital editing and media literacy for girls and non-binary youth ages 15-19. Our instructors are working media producers who inspire participants to be creative, tech-savvy leaders who will help realize gender equity in the film industry. All films produced during POWGirlsworkshops are screened at the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Film Fest).
