“A River Between Us” Screens at Oregon Historical Society

IMG_4505Every seat was filled last night at the Oregon invite-only screening of “A River Between Us” – a feature documentary detailing the sometimes contentious, and largest restoration project in the US along the Klamath River.  Jason Atkinson, keen fisherman and 14 year Oregon state senator, introduced his film to a rapt audience including current Governor Kate Brown and past Governor, Ted Kulongoski.  Read more here.

“Welcome to Unity,” has won both Children’s Jury Prize and Adult Jury Prize for Documentary Feature Film at the 2014 Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.

“Welcome to Unity,” a 90-minute documentary directed by Katharine Mahalic, is a light-hearted, comedic film that shows how crazy things get when seven foreign exchange students, including two from Muslim backgrounds, are brought into a Christian home in the tiny town of Unity, Oregon—population 100. Each year the Festival draws more than 400 entries from filmmakers in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, presenting to the public carefully selected programs of outstanding work and awarding critical recognition to top juror- and audience-recognized films. Fusion Documentary Challenge Call for Entries

The Fusion Documentary Challenge allows you to create short documentaries (4-7 minutes) in five days from start to finish. You will get to choose the five days they would like to make their film between now and November 5, 2014. Contestants will be given the theme of this year’s challenge and get to choose between two given genres.

The top 20 films receive an exclusive 18-month licensing deal with Fusion to feature these films on Fusion’s broadcast and digital platforms. The top 12 films as determined by an esteemed panel of judges will premiere at Slamdance Film Festival in January 2015 in Park City.
