May 24, 2018 – From world-renowned animation studio HouseSpecial and Director Kirk Kelley comes Armor del Amor – a scripted nature ‘documentary’ that follows the mating rituals of Dasypus novemcinctus, to discover the dark underbelly of modern mammalian dating.
For your consideration – a NW documentary from Seattle based filmmaker Jeff Unay that explores the dramatic “real life Rocky” struggle of Seattle MMA fighter Joe Carman. A rare Portland screening brings this well reviewed and well traveled doco (which saw theatrical release after making the rounds at the Bend Film Fest among others) to the NW Film Center/Whitsell auditorium, May 10th at 7pm. Unay will be in attendance!
LAIKA’s fifth film, “Missing Link,” will be directed by Chris Butler (“ParaNorman”) and cast will include, Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson. It is set to open in the spring of 2019.
LAIKA describes the latest project as a “globetrotting comedy-adventurebursting with humor, heart, and a profound message of acceptance and finding one’s place.” Read more here.

Portland-based Rose City Games announced a new publishing deal with anime adaptation specialist, Viz Media, and the development of a new and original title, “The World Next Door.”
Together with award-winning animation studio ShadowMachine, the #OregonMade Creative Foundation has just launched a unique paid apprenticeship program focusing on hands-on, stop-motion animation production work.
ShadowMachine is about to go into production on a stop-motion series and we have worked together to create two, three month, paid apprenticeship positions on the project.
