Oscilloscope Labs released the official trailer for the #oregonamde indie film, “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and announced its release date, on January 26, 2024. The feature was produced by, and stars, Daisy Ridley (Star Wars prequel trilogy) and first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Set in Oregon, it cast features Ridley, Dave Merheje, Parvesh Cheena, Marcia DeBonis, and Bree Elrod. “Sometimes I Think About Dying“ is “an unexpected fable on the virtues of living.”

The Events and Film Office at Prosper Portland, in partnership with Travel Portland, has selected three recipients of the Amplify Portland: Local Filmmakers Production Grant. The Amplify Portland Grant seeks to create opportunity for filmmakers using local talent, crew, and vendors during production. The grant contributes to productions that build professional development within the local industry and bring exposure to Portland through unique stories with diverse representation both in front of and behind the camera.

Portland Based Koerner Camera was recently featured in a “mini doc” from Cine D called “Rentals, Repairs, and Rock’n’Roll – Behind-the-Scenes at Koerner Camera Systems.”
Cine D took time to visit Koerner Camera Systems, the largest camera rental house north of Los Angeles with offices in both Portland and Seattle, and talked to owner Michael Koerner about the history of his business.

This year the People’s Coast Summit 2023, took place in Astoria, Oregon. Hosted by the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, Erik Nachtrieb (CEO, SetJetters) was invited to present a keynote address on Film Tourism, and how travel organizations can embrace this growing tourism sector.
