Oscilloscope Labs released the official trailer for the #oregonamde indie film, “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and announced its release date, on January 26, 2024. The feature was produced by, and stars, Daisy Ridley (Star Wars prequel trilogy) and first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Set in Oregon, it cast features Ridley, Dave Merheje, Parvesh Cheena, Marcia DeBonis, and Bree Elrod. “Sometimes I Think About Dying“ is “an unexpected fable on the virtues of living.”

Daisy Ridley,(Star Wars prequel trilogy) recently shared her thoughts on the movie “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and her experiences filming in Oregon. Ridley portrays Frances, a young womandealing with anxiety and despair, in this thought-provoking movie that recently premiered in competition at Sundance. During the filming, Ridley spent time in Astoria and on the Oregon Coast, and she had nothing but good things to say about theselocations.

Edward Stratton, from The Daily Astorian, reports that super fan, Richard Bates, recently purchased the Victorian home in Astoria that was used as a prominent location in the science fiction comedy film (1996). Bates was only 6 years old when he saw “Short Circuit,” and immediately became a fan, and now has plans to turn the house into a museum and overnight stay lodging.
Senator Ron Wyden prepared a statement for the Congressional Record to mark the 30th anniversary of “The Goonies”, shot in Astoria, Oregon. Sen. Wyden noted the growth of the Oregon film industry and the “good-paying jobs and tourism that in turn support local businesses and economic development across the State”. The highly-anticipated 30th anniversary of “The Goonies“, took place over 4 days in Astoria last month. The celebration kicked off with the Geocache “One Eyed Willie Treasure” hunt at the Astoria Armory, with the official “Goonies Day” being marked as June 7th. Several screenings of the movie took place over the four days with the collective events attracted around 15,000 fans from all over the world, celebrating the “Farewell to Warren Field” (location featured in the film’s opening), original cast appearances and the largest collective of the Truffle Shuffle the world has ever seen! June 7th, 2010 marked the 25th Anniversary of the 80s cult classic film, “The Goonies,” and fans of the film descended upon Astoria, Oregon in droves this past weekend to celebrate.
