In 2010 Mayor Willis Van Dusen declared June 7 to be “Goonies Day” to commemorate the release of the film back in 1985. This weekend Astoria will be host to several activities to honor the film that keeps on giving to the community. Most notably Astoria’s visitor center has organized a scavenger hunt for the visiting die-hard fans.
“The Goonies” impact on Astoria has been told over and over but it never ceases to amaze. If you visit the Oregon Film Museum you will be stunned to see just how many fans come and visit leaving behind a note marking how much the film means to them. Regardless, think about using this as a good excuse to visit one of Oregon’s great locations.
