There are more than 185 State Parks and waysides in Oregon. I’ve been to them all… or at least everything you can find on a public map. It took me four months of travel, but with the help of Oregon Film and the Oregon State Parks system, I made a music video featuring footage of myself performing the same song in every wooded nook and cranny in Oregon. Fox12’s Highlights Two More Locals In Their “More Movies” Series

Fox12’s “More” series has been focussing on “More Movies” and has recently highlighted two more local business owners, 360 Labs and Greg McMickle.

Yesterday at the Hollywood Theatre, the local business accelerator, Oregon Story Board presented their second Demo Day this year (first one was in January) of their eclectic class of 2015.

There to present their pitches were: Teak, scopic, WILD, Rose City Game Consulting, morebots, sprocketship,  The Secret Book Club, and Original Fare, all of which embody “digital storytelling” as a common thread running through their work.  The eight new start-ups were impressive in their vision and scope.   Continue reading... “Oregon Story Board’s Class of 2015”

Portland Opera And OMSI To Expand “Opera On Screen” Film Series

AidaPortland Opera and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will expand their collaborative “Opera on Screen” film series this fall. “Opera on Screen” began in September 2014 with high-definition screenings of four San Francisco Opera productions.

The 2015 series will include four new San Francisco Opera titles—Verdi’s Aida, the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, and Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov—as well as two bonus screenings—a Halloween weekend duo of The Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney and Brian De Palma’s cult classic, Phantom of the Paradise, a contemporary adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera.

“Seven Wonders” Campaign + Film Tourism – Has Affected Increased Visitors To Oregon

The love for the beauty and magnificence of Oregon as a destination continues – this week the New York Times travel section reported that Travel Oregon’s “Seven Wonders” campaign (Wieden + Kennedy), coupled with the “Wild” movie locations tie-in, increased Oregon’s tourism “by nearly 10 percent growth in statewide lodging revenue in 2014 over 2013, an increase of more than 120,000 social media followers, and a record number of unique visitors to its website”.*  Travel Oregon partnered with Oregon Film on three distinct aspects of the “Wild” journey;

  1. the Los Angeles  premiere,
  2. the five screenings around the state, and
  3. the Fox Searchlight prize promotion (that promoted the movie’s release, as well as put a nationwide, and international spotlight on the state).

Oregon Story Board’s 2015 Accelerator Class Is Announced


 

Oregon Story Board announced today the the eight new companies who will be part of the second accelerator class, and the first occupants of their new space in Portland’s Old Town (Old Town Lofts at 411 NW Flanders.)

These companies represent the mix of film, video, animation, visual effects, digital media, and gaming industries that make up Oregon’s digital storytelling ecosystem. Categories for documentary shorts are, Historical and Cultural; Tourism, Outdoor and Recreational; Student Videos; and a new 2015 Cranberry Challenge category.
