It’s a real coup to have these two seasoned producers at ISA PDX. Janice and Darren have worked together on several projects, including CONFIRMATION and THE FINAL GIRLS. Between them, they have scores of TV and feature credits, and will talk about the script to screen process from their perspective in the trenches.

#OregonMade Film Series: Kansas City Bomber Raquel Welch Comes to Portland

Next up in our #OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre is the Roller Derby classic: “Kansas City Bomber.” You may recall this film being featured in our Oregon Film history series Raiders of the Lost Archive – but, either way, here’s your chance to check it out on screen. Gordon Klco And Rob Finch – Winners Of Oregon’s Magical Winter Season Grant!

Winter Season Grant Award Winners Announced!

The Oregon Made Creative Foundation in conjunction with Travel Oregon are pleased to announce the winners of the first ever Winter Season Grant. The Grant is part of an ongoing content partnership between Travel Oregon and the Oregon Made Creative Foundation. There was a large and exciting application turnout with many creative and well-qualified ideas but Gordon Klco and Rob Finchs’ pitch, “Wish You Were Here,” took the top spot. Klco grew up in the high desert of the Rocky Mountains and his “love for skiing and kayaking led him into the adventure film world” where he started his career.

2nd Annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” – Closes January 31st!

The second annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” is open for applications – closes January 31st.

The Grant is being provided by the #OregonMade Creative Foundation in conjunction with Travel Oregon. This grant will provide $20,000 in funding to enable the selected applicant to create a short film that specifically showcases the diversity of people, spirit, passion, and excitement of the outdoor-adventure, or, action sports film genres in the state of Oregon. This program specifically looks to support and encourage diversity of filmmaker and/or the subject matter, in front of and/or behind the camera. With the help of Sally Spaderna of Koerner Camera Systems, we are starting a new documentary project with the goal of Netflix distribution: “Dreams of the Bubble People”.  It may sound silly, but I assure you: do not underestimate the unexpected, and very human story of: “The Amazing Bubble Man” His name is Louis Pearl, and I would like to tell his story, and show his world.

Oregon Media Production Association Mixer with Paul HarrodJoin Oregon Media Production Association on August 28 for an exciting evening immersed in the local production scene!

Portland-based production designer Paul Harrod will kick things off with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Wes Anderson’s new stop-motion film, Isle of Dogs. We’ll get to see how the director’s distinct artistic sensibilities informed every step of the process, from design through fabrication, and ultimately shooting and performance.

Lower Boom Launches Diversity And Inclusion Initiative

Lower Boom is launching, today, August 1st, a diversity and inclusion initiative to create opportunities for Television and Film writers.

Lower Boom will be doing outreach and accepting writing samples throughout the month of August to select 4-6 writers who will then participate in a weekly writer’s room during September and October. Special consideration will be given to writers of color, LGBTQ, women writers, and candidates from socio-economically diverse backgrounds.

New #OregonMade Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – Production Underway

In late 2017, the Oregon Made Creative Foundation (in partnership with Oregon Film,) Travel Oregon, Danner Boots, and the Portland Film Office at Prosper Portland partnered together to bring  funding for a new grant: The Outdoor Adventure Film Grant.

This Grant has enabled our filmmakers, Emilia Quinton and Liz Haan to begin creating a short film that specifically showcases the spirit, passion, and excitement of the outdoor-adventure, or action sports film genres in the state of Oregon and today, we’re excited to share some behind the scenes of what the grantees have been up to!
