Eugene, OR. Friday, December 2nd is the deadline for submitting entries to the 8th Annual OpenLens Festival 2012. This year’s festival has two categories. The short film competition is for productions of 15 minutes or less in length. The screen writing competition welcomes film scripts of 15 pages or less with an emphasis on the short narrative film genre. Entries for both must be received by DIVA by 5PM on December 2nd. MONDAY-FRIDAY, DEC 26-30, NOON-5 PM

Bring two-dimensional graphic artwork to life using Adobe Flash software on Apple digital workstations. Learn how animators create motion using techniques such as keyframes, squash and stretch, and metamorphosis. Animate video stills and/or scan in and manipulate your own artwork. Record the action frame by frame as you create your own animated sequences with your own recorded audio. The week will culminate in a screening for family and friends, complete with popcorn. Great Behind the Scenes Film of “Portlandia”


 
IFC is looking to go bigger and better with season 2 of “Portlandia” and this behind the scenes film is an indication of what we’re going to see in January.  I do think the coolest part of this show is that above all it’s a show being made by great friends.  The friendship shines through in this piece.  Another key element is Jonathan Krisel – the Director and Writer.  I will not be surprised to see Jonathan rise up the ranks and become even more successful than he already is. “Grimm” Gets a Full Season Order – And a Shot at Thursday Night

News came out late on Monday that the Portland based NBC drama “Grimm” has been picked up for a full season order with another nine episodes.  The news was picked up and spread through Twitter but it looks like the original announcement came on the Entertainment Weekly Site here.

NBC Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt said

“This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”

OpenLens Festival adds Screenwriting Competition

Eugene, OR. The eighth annual OpenLens Festival is pleased to announce the addition of a scriptwriting competition for 2012. Rubicon Film Productions Ltd., a Eugene based company, is sponsoring a special $250 best screenplay prize for a short narrative film. Submitted scripts of 15 pages or less will be accepted. This competition is open to both those Oregon filmmakers entering the OpenLens film competition and screenwriters whose scripts have not yet been produced. Call for Oregon Filmmakers – OpenLens Festival, Eugene

Eugene, OR. Oregon filmmakers are encouraged to enter DIVA’s eighth annual OpenLens Festival to be held January 28th, 2012. The competition is accepting short films of 15 minutes or less made by Oregon residents.

Awards include: Jury Best Of Show ($500), Jury Honorable Mention ($250), and Audience Choice Award ($100).

Bent Image Lab launches into Television Programming with “Jingle All the Way” for the Hallmark Channel

Bent Image Lab, the animation studio behind many successful commercials, music videos, shorts, and visual effects projects is now co-producing long format content for television. “Jingle All the Way”, a stop motion animated show for Hallmark Channel is Bent’s first endeavor into long form animation. Airing November 25th as part of Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas”, “Jingle All the Way” is based off of an original storybook from Hallmark. The show was directed by Bent partner Chel White, produced by Bent’s Executive Producer Tsui Ling Toomer and executively produced by Bent Partner Ray Di Carlo and Hallmark’s Jodi Schade, Diana Stuart, Chad Harris, and Shawn McClaren.
