#OregonMade “Lazareth” to be Released May 10

Ignore those skyline shots of a post apocalyptic Seattle because this one is #OregonMade.

“Lazareth” follows Lee (Ashley Judd), an aunt whose life mission is to protect her orphaned nieces, Imogen and Maeve, from a self-destructing world, raising them in isolation until an outsider threatens their peaceful existence.

Starring: Ashley Judd, Sarah Pidgeon, Katie Douglas, Edward Balaban, and Asher Angel. Directed by: Alec Tibaldi.

“Lazareth” will be released on May 10, 2024.

Particle Studio Opens SE Portland Production Stage Space

Particle Studio, a  soundproof studio space for video and photo production, has opened a new stage space in SE Portland.

Particle Studio is outfitted with an L-shaped cyc wall, industry grade lighting, high-end finishes, fully-functional model kitchens, and on-site equipment rentals. There’s also powered grids, ground floor load in, and a staff that’s eager to assist with any needs your production may have.

This new studio has been built from the ground up (literally) to fulfill all production needs.

#OregonMade “New Life” Drops Trailer

A new feature film shot in Portland, Enterprise and the Wallowas opens in theaters and will be available on streaming platforms on May 3.

“New Life” tells the story of a mysterious woman on the run, and the resourceful fixer assigned to bring her in. Their two unique stories inextricably link, as the stakes of the pursuit rise to apocalyptic proportions.

The thriller stars Sonya Walger, Hayley Erin, and Tony Amendola. Written and directed by John Rosman.

Portland Community College Plans Animation Degree, Backed by Laika

In an exciting development for the Oregon animation community, Portland Community College announced plans to offer an animation degree beginning in 2025, partly funded by a $60,000 donation from Oregon film studio Laika.

Laika announced Tuesday that it will give $30,000 to the PCC Foundation in each of the next two years to help fund three new classes in animation and stop-motion filmmaking, and the new degree in animation and motion graphics.

In addition, Oregon Film supports a paid placement at Laika for a PCC student each year through the Creative Opportunity Program.

2 Two Oregon Towns Feature In HGTV’s Digital Piece – “Must-Visit Small-Town Movie Sets Across America”

HGTV’s digital home, lifestyle, and travel, platform recently posted a piece on “Must-Visit Small-Town Movie Sets Across America“. Oregon was showcased twice in the piece, highlighting both St. Helens and Brownsville. The Oregon Film Trail an initiative produced through Oregon Film’s non-profit, the Oregon Made Creative Foundation) was also mentioned.

St. Helens hosts a 6-week festival every fall that celebrates the beloved Disney movie, Halloweentown (1988) and Summit Entertainment’s Twilight (2008), and more recently all things Halloween and fall-related.

Oregon Film Museum Details Expansion Project in Astoria

Last week The Astorian reported on OFM’s new look and expanded size and mission.

The Clatsop County Historical Society has detailed plans to expand the Oregon Film Museum, an estimated $10.1 million project that would involve the construction of a new, two-story, 13,000-square-foot building.

The addition is proposed at Seventh and Duane streets on the site of the former Morris Glass building, a property the historical society acquired several years ago.

Plans for the new building include a 50-seat theater, a projection room, classroom space, an expanded gift shop and several new exhibits.

BendFilm Announces 2024 Dates, Releases Poster

BendFilm today unveiled the 2024 creative for the 21st Annual Bend Film Festival, scheduled for October 10-13th.

The Bend Film Festival, at its core, is homemade and homegrown. The festival is made possible by our hard-working staff, devoted volunteers, and amazing community of supporters.

This year the festival creative and poster were designed in-house by our talented BendFilm team — led by Marketing Manager Elise Furgurson with help from Christina Rosetti, Doone Williams, Selin Sevinc and Giancarlo Gatto. The design was inspired by our mission to bring the best in independent films to Central Oregon and celebrates the spirit of the Bend Film Festival as a true indie festival.
