Mayor Sam Adams: “The City of Portland is Politely Asking You to Put an Emmy on It”

Portland Mayor, Sam Adams, is rallying behind Portlandia for Emmy consideration in twelve categories, including Outstanding Variety Series.  Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisens’ hit sketch comedy series has already completed two seasons in Portland and is coming back for a third this year.  The show won an Emmy in 2011 for Outstanding Costumes For A Variety/Music Program.

3 Spots Remain for Film/TV Hair Workshop

Three student spots are remaining for a two-day workshop being taught by three-time Emmy winner Joe Matke (All My Children, 90210) on June 9-10 in Portland.

The workshop — Hairstyling for Makeup Artists — is hosted by Colour Box Makeup Studios and designed to broaden working makeup artists’ hairstyling skills. It is also ideal for beginner- and intermediate-level stylists or any member of a production crew seeking a basic understanding of film/TV hair design.

Emmy Winner Leads Film/TV Hair Workshop in Portland

Emmy Winning Hairstylist Joe Matke (All My Children, 90210) will teach makeup artists and other beginner- and intermediate-level stylists the basics of film/TV hair design when Colour Box Makeup Studios returns to Portland for a two day workshop, June 9-10.

BENT Does Coke in Europe

Football (Soccer) insanity is personified in a new 3D collaboration between Santo, (Buenos Aires, London, Milan) and Bent Image Lab, (Portland Oregon). Helmed by mixed-media maestro Carlos Lascano, “Spirit of the Euro” is an outrageous romp through stylized landscapes of Eastern Europe with an eccentric cast of chameleonic characters. The Coke-drinking, silly dancing, trumpet blowing, costume wearing, song chanting, stranger hugging football fans are a unique combination of CG animation and real actors’ eyes—a first for Coca-Cola, and a ground breaking technique for cinema 3D stereo. Lot’s of Good Oregon Film and Television Available this Weekend


We’ve been highlighting mostly the fine Oregon based television work that has been airing recently but this weekend not only is there “Grimm” and “Portlandia” but the feature film “Gone” produced by Lakeshore Entertainment premieres in theaters this weekend.  Harold Phillips’ blog Oregon Film And TV Dollars put up a good post about the film yesterday.  He also found a great clip from star Amanda Seyfried’s appearance on Jay Leno where she brought Voodoo Donuts to the show.  Here’s the clip with her raving about Voodoo and Portland. Hollywood Trades in the City of Stars for the City of Roses

Filmmakers begin to move film and television production up to the Pacific Northwest.

Portland, Ore. – Portland, Oregon is rapidly becoming the next production capital of the west thanks to the hit television show Portlandia, which debuted on the Independent Film Channel last January.

The wildly popular show, set to debut its second season in January 2012, stars comedians Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Armisen, best known as a returning cast member of Saturday Night Live and Brownstein, a former band member of Portland-based Sleater Kinney, first grabbed viewers attention when the six-episode series aired earlier this year. Bent Image Lab launches into Television Programming with “Jingle All the Way” for the Hallmark Channel

Bent Image Lab, the animation studio behind many successful commercials, music videos, shorts, and visual effects projects is now co-producing long format content for television. “Jingle All the Way”, a stop motion animated show for Hallmark Channel is Bent’s first endeavor into long form animation. Airing November 25th as part of Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas”, “Jingle All the Way” is based off of an original storybook from Hallmark. The show was directed by Bent partner Chel White, produced by Bent’s Executive Producer Tsui Ling Toomer and executively produced by Bent Partner Ray Di Carlo and Hallmark’s Jodi Schade, Diana Stuart, Chad Harris, and Shawn McClaren.
