WAGE SLAVES is a web-series set in a Portland, Oregon, coffee shop. The show premiered in July 2009 at www.WageSlaveSeries.com, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you still have time to get caught up before season 2 starts!
Calvin Marshall, filmed in Southern Oregon will screen in Portland for one week starting Augst 27th at the Living Room Theaters. The movie was directed by Gary Lundgren and stars Alex Frost, Michelle Lombardo and Steve Zahn

D-Sandwich interviews Michael Bettis, local beekeeper and learns about local honey production in La Grande, Oregon and the Grande Ronde Valley.
D explores issues like honey health facts, colony collapse disorder, infant botulism, sex practices of the species, as well as get’s personal – a slew of “This or That’s” outline one of the great contributing community members of La Grande, Oregon.
A lot of questions, a lot of info, a lot of laughs, support local foods systems with local honey.
Eastern Oregon Film Festival in conjunction with Crossing the Blues: La Grande Summer Festival is pleased to present the 3rd annual La Grande Summer Film Project. The project will kick off on Friday August 13th, with a Night Life social event at White House Coffee (1702 Fourth Street). Teams will be identified, organized, and specific criteria for their film will be given. After the participants have had a chance to “schmooze”, ACTION will be called at 9:00pm – and the filmmakers have 48 hours to deliver their final project.

For emerging filmmakers, the film scenes in New York City and Portland are more closely connected than one might think. Just ask Lena Rudnick, a graduate student in the prestigious Columbia University MFA program in film directing, who got her start as a student at the Northwest Film Center. Like salmon who come home to spawn in the same river each year, when it came time for Rudnick to shoot her final film of the year, she returned to Portland, where easy permitting, equipment access, crew, and location ambience readily combined to trump shooting in the Big Apple.
Brownsville, Oregon is about to come alive with “Stand By Me” fans!
Twenty-five years ago, Rob Reiner and his crew came to Brownsville to make the movie Stand By Me. On Saturday, July 24th, Brownsville will be celebrating the movie’s anniversary with an event that’s fun for all ages.
There will be an amateur pie eating contest (where contestants eat blueberry pie with both hands behind their backs); dancing with a live band playing 50’s music; an old car cruise in; a photo display of pictures taken behind the scenes in 1985 and lots of other things to do and see.

Weiden + Kennedy are taking their Old Spice Campaign to the web – in real time! The past few days they have been recording personalized messages and posting the videos on YouTube and it’s become quite the phenomenon! Read Write Web got the low down on what W+K is up to. If you type in “Old Spice” on YouTube, you’ll see all the videos. My personal favorite is the message to Alyssa Milano which has already had 72,000 posts.
Over 100 industry guests are already signed up to attend the Final Cut Classic on July 23rd in Hood River Oregon. Participation is designed to bring more exposure and deeper business contacts to the attendees. The event raises money for education scholarships and the OMPA, and it is a great show of support for the crew and other business owners who work together to continue growing the industry.
Thanks to the help of the local PR firm Liaison, Hinge Digital is looking to make a big splash in the animation, visual effects, and digital media industry. Today Liaison put out the news that the company is officially announcing the launch of their full service facility. The company was founded by Roland Gauthier, Michael Kuehn, and Alex Tysowsky and quietly they have been able to do land some significant projects.
Film Action Oregon is on the lookout for short-film entries for its 3-round Video Gong Show contest!
Entries can be nearly any style or quality ( Music videos, Senior thesis projects, Stoner videos, Feature Excerpts, & Teasers…etc.)
Your peers & celebrity judges will rate the videos, and the top 5 from each rounds will advance to the Finals at the Hollywood Theatre in October. Compete for cash & a prize from Picture This worth $2000+. Those gonged the quickest will also be rewarded 🙂
