Top Gear USA – Can You Get From Portland to San Francisco On Just One Tank Of Gas?

We will find out tonight if it’s possible to drive from Portland to San Fransisco on just one tank of gas. The History Channel’s  Top Gear USA series, modeled after the UK BBC series of the same name, has a similar set up with weekly car challenges and rewards.  Tonight’s challenge takes presenters, Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood from Portland to San Francisco without  being allowed to fill up.  Whomever makes it closest to San Francisco wins the chance to drive the “toughest off road machine in the world” in a race in the Colorado mountains.

Hinge Digital’s Campaign for Carrington College

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/48043254[/vimeo]Hinge Digital, the Portland-based animation and visual effects studio, has been working through the summer months on a brand new character-based campaign for Carrington College.
The studio expanded their core team with animation, design and production talent sourced from the animation mecca of Portland, as well as from the Bay Area and LA. They designed, developed and animated original 3D spokes-characters, “Blue” and “Goldie,”along with “Squirrel,” which are now prominently featured in Carrington’s broadcast, print, online, and social media campaigns, and will soon be available as toys and other collectibles at the college’s book stores.

Portland Digital eXperience Showcases Local Animation Talent


Portland has a reputation for creating world-class animation.  Whether we’re making feature films or iconic commercials, using traditional stop-motion, CG or state of the art VFX, Portland is a hub for animation within the entertainment industry.

But what exactly do we mean when we refer to “animation”?  Beyond movies and television, animation plays an increasing role in education, business solutions and interactive experiences of all kinds.  Animation creates movement; it brings ideas to life.

On Thursday, Sept. 6 at 4:30pm Portland Digital eXperience presents  Creative Technology in Portland:  Local Innovators in Animation at Pure Space in Northwest Portland.

As part of this year’s Portland Digital eXperience, there will be an awesome event that I recommend all of you check out.  On September 6 roughly the same time as the usual First Thursday Events in the Pearl there will be a Start-Up Crawl.  What is a Start-Up Crawl?  Check out the initial information about the event that was put up on Rick Turoczy’s tech blog Silicon Florist.  Why will this be such a cool event?  Well first there are sure to be some great creative tech companies hosting parties on a nice Thursday evening.

Oregon Produced House of Last Things Gains Distribution

August 28, 2012— Double Dutch International announced today that it has acquired the worldwide rights to the psychological thriller House of Last Things. The film– written, directed and produced in Portland,Oregon by Michael Bartlett– stars RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad), Lindsey Haun (True Blood) and Blake Berris (Days of our Lives). Cinematographer is Ken Kelsch (Bad Lieutenant, Big Night, Desert Flower). The world premiere festival has yet to be set.

“This is a film that grabs you and takes you through some exciting twists and turns,” said Jason Möring, President of Double Dutch.

Revolver Digital Media Studio,LLC (Revolver DMS) partnered with Roshan in 2011 to produce a music video for his hot single “Run Out of Luck”. The video received positive reviews from both critics and fans for its energetic cuts and warm imagery. A little over a year has past and Revolver DMS has decided to produce a more ambitious video with higher stakes; aided by a heist inspired storyline.

The Leviathan is Headed Your Way…

Recently, we announced that our debut film, Nightscape will be showing at the Montreal Comiccon Horrorfest. Nightscape was one of 15 films selected by the festival as part of its initial feature film lineup. The festival, which runs from September 14th through the 16th in Montreal, Quebec, will showcase a total of 30 features from around the globe.

Nightscape is about an emotionally-guarded drifter who crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. The drifter must learn to trust again if she is to end a lifetime of bad luck and to help her newfound companions survive.

PORTLAND, Oregon (August 22, 2012)  The feature film “Cell Count” premiered on May 20th at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil and plays at the Macabro Film Festival, Montreal HorrorFest, Sitges Film Festival, and Celluloid Screams festival later this year.  Today marks the 6th film festival acceptance from the 13th Annual Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina.   The BARS is supported by the National Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, sponsored by the Film Museum of the City of Buenos Aires and declared of cultural interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Couch Fest, founded in Seattle and now worldwide, is embarking on it’s 5th annual year of showing short films in people’s homes all over the world. We put together several programs of the best short films of the year, and invite people to meet their neighbors and fellow film lovers in an intimate and casual setting.
