In Oregon we are blessed to have people who know how to tell stories. Storytelling has always been a part of Oregon’s DNA. We have great novelists, great song-writers, and great filmmakers. We also have great innovative storytellers. One such group of innovative storytellers is Second Story Interactive Studios. Founded in 1994 by Julie Beeler and Brad Johnson, Second Story is thought of as one of the leaders in the interactive industry, collecting over 400 awards and accolades.

This year we are presenting our Innovation in Media Arts Award to Second Story Interactive Studios for their constant advancement in the art of interactive storytelling.

The Oregon Film & Television Office thanked Leverage for four great seasons shooting in the Portland Metro area by donating four trees to be planted in metro neighborhoods through the Friends Of Trees non-profit program. Leverage’s Producer, Dean Devlin, was presented with a certificate noting the dates and neighborhoods the trees will be planted by Senator Ginny Burdick (and, naturally, the certificate was printed on 100% recycled, FSC certified paper).
At Oregon Film & Television’s Annual Meeting last night, we were able to honor some amazing Film Advocates who have been integral to the film and television industry.

Steve Oster (Producer, “Grimm“) announced the Film Advocate Awards that were presented to Derrick Roberson, Sergeant Erin Smith, and Sergeant Peter Simpson by Governor Kitzhaber.
Derrick Roberson, the Recreation Coordinator for Portland Parks and Recreation, operates as a communication liaison between Location Managers and the Portland Parks and Rec.

At Oregon Film & Television’s Annual Meeting last night, Dean Devlin (Producer, Leverage) and Governor Kitzhaber presented Film Advocate Awards to Catherine Comer and Jamie Johnk from Clackamas County Business and Economic Development. Catherine, (Business & Economic Development Manager) and Jamie (Economic Development Coordinator) represent a “best case” example of the cooperation between the needs of the film and media production industry and the community at large.
