Governor’s Office of Film & Television Nominated For LMGA Award For Work On “Wild”

LMGAThe Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television (AKA The Oregon Film Office) has been nominated for consideration for a Location Managers Guild of America  Award for “exemplary work on WILD“.  Winners will be chosen after a vote from active and retired members of the LMGA the finalists were announced January 27th, with final balloting of the nominees taking place February 6th.  The second Annual Awards Show will be help in Los Angeles on March 7th.

More Oregon locations were used on “Wild” than any other production shot in Oregon to date.

Oregon Story Board Demo Day – January 9th

Oregon Story Board , (a collaboration of community storytelling innovators) is presenting their first group of projects from the inaugural accelerator program.  The initial group of five Oregon companies (Chroma, A Fourth Act, Studio Kate, Built Oregon, Mountain Machine Studios, ) will be showcasing their work on Friday 9th, 2pm at Hollywood Theater.  Free to the public but you must RSVP.

Randall Jahnson

Randall Jahnson has been a professional screenwriter for 30 years. He has delivered scripts for both large and small screens; in both studio and independent realms; in genres ranging from horror to historical.

He has worked closely with such film-making talent as Steven Spielberg, Jonathan Demme, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Spheeris, and Spike Lee. Among his produced credits are The Doors, The Mask of Zorro, Sunset Strip, Dudes, and episodes of the HBO cable series, Tales from the Crypt.

He also wrote the epic Western video game, Gun, which was voted Best Story at the 2005 IGN Video Game Awards.

TNT and Electrics’, “The Librarians” Opened Strong

TNT’s “The Librarians”

TNT’s new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian”) delivered 5.4 million viewers for the two hour premiere in December. TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here.  Many locations in the Portland metro area, Clackamas county and even the Captiol building in Salem were used in season one.

Rebecca Romijn (“X-Men”) star, along with Noah Wyle (“ER”, “Falling Skies”), Christian Kane (“Leverage”) and Lindy Booth (“Dawn of the Dead”, “The Philanthropist”).

Digital One Receives Double Honors at Rosey Awards

DIGITAL ONE, a premier post-production studio located in Portland, Oregon, has been honored by the Portland Advertising Federation (PAF) with two Rosey Awards in the audio category for web videos produced for MasterCraft and Chrome Industries.

The two award-winning web films follow on the coat tails of an impressive year for Digital One. After receiving an AICP Award from the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, a permanent home in the Museum of Modern Art’s archives, and a place on the CLIO Awards shortlist, MasterCraft’s “Mission 04: History Is History” can now add Rosey Award to it’s running list of accolades.

“Wild” In Oregon!

It seemed fitting that Fox Searchlight’sWild“, special-screened in four Oregon cities the second week in December. The screenings kicked off with the Oregon premiere of the movie at Cinema 21 , Portland.  Reese Witherspoon (nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress), Laura Dern, Jean-Marc Vallée , and of course local Portlander and inspiration, Cheryl Strayed, were on hand to introduce the movie to a packed house, as well as an introduction from Tim Williams, Oregon Film’s Executive Director.

Portland Film Festival Makes 25 Best List

MovieMaker Magazine’s Fall 2014 issue hit newsstands around the U.S. and Canada this week. It presents MovieMaker’s annual list of the 25 best cinematic celebrations in the world, as selected by people like critic Elvis Mitchell, Emily Best of film site Seed & Spark, Thom Powers from the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sundance Doc Club, Dennis Dembia of Rogers & Cowan,  Josephine Decker from Filmmaker magazine, and Karla Rodrigeuz with Alamo Draft House.

Portland Film Festival has made the list in its second year out along with Austin Film Festival, SXSW, Seattle International Film Festival, Hong Kong Film Festival and others.

LAIKA Scoops Two Annie Awards

Two Oregon companies, LAIKA and Bent Image Lab picked up nominations for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards.  (Bent Image Lab garnered a nomination for  “Polariffic” (Hallmark) in the Best Animated Special Production category, and Laika’s “The Boxtrolls” picked up 13 nominations, including Best Animated Feature.)   Laika was awarded two Annies for Best Production Design and Best Voice Acting (Ben Kingsley as Archibald Snatcher).  “The Boxtrolls” is also nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscar’s next month.
