Hand make your own 16mm film stock using silver-gelatin and acetate, then shoot on and handprocess it to explore the possibilities of what this remarkable medium has to offer! Digital may be the industry norm today, but there’s renewed curiosity in the filmmaking community about the 16mm film format, especially when used in creative, alternative ways.

“Out Of The Darkness” Wraps

Its a wrap for the locally produced feature film “Out of the Darkness.” After four weeks, and multiple locations, the producers would like to thank, the local crew and vendors, the local cast, Oscar nominated actor Graham Greene, and the Oregon Film Office. “Out of the Darkness” expected release date by Origin Releasing is in early Summer 2016. We are looking forward to our next feature production in January 2016, “Justice.”

NBC Universal’s “Grimm” is back with a vengeance with season 5. This fantasy drama series set in Portland will premiere 9pm, October 30th. To find out where season 4 left off and what to expect in this coming season read more here.

2nd Annual Indie Game Con Takes Place In Eugene

Indie Game Con took place in Eugene, Oregon earlier this month. Around 30 developers, many fans, game reps and around 19 speakers converged on Lane CC’s campus for the second annual event, that showcased the growing Pacific Northwest’s interconnected indie game development scene. Read more here.

The conference was sponsored by Lane County, Lane Travel District, Hewlett-Packard, Pipeworks, Rock You, Super Genius, The Game Engine Company, the regional accelerator, RAIN and Unity. Proceeds from the conference benefitted Bitforest.

Oregon Story Board’s Class of 2015

Yesterday at the Hollywood Theatre, the local business accelerator, Oregon Story Board presented their second Demo Day this year (first one was in January) of their eclectic class of 2015.

There to present their pitches were: Teak, scopic, WILD, Rose City Game Consulting, morebots, sprocketship, The Secret Book Club, and Original Fare, all of which embody “digital storytelling” as a common thread running through their work. The eight new start-ups were impressive in their vision and scope.

Sockeye has been in existence since 1997 and makes up an eclectic community of creatives that do “work that makes everyone look good”, and now they are making Portland look good too! Your concept of what’s possible is about to change!

SOAR, a new documentary featuring local dancers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd and directed by local filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais, will premiere on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 pm. The screening will take place at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland), and will feature a Q&A with the director Susan Hess Logeais as well as co-producers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd. Tickets are available in advance at the Hollywood Theatre website or at the door for $10, $5 for Students (with ID).

32 Northwest Performers Selected to Complete 36-Hour Actor Training Intensive for Film & Television

(PORTLAND, OR) Thirty-two Northwest actors have been chosen to complete a six-week intensive training program, as part of a new Talent Diversity Initiative to take place this fall in Portland. The program is being produced by Cast Iron Studios, in partnership with Act Now Studio and Scott Rogers Studios, and will be sponsored by TNT.

“Out Of The Darkness” Feature Production Begins

October 8, 2015 (Portland, Oregon) In the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland, the first day of production was conducted of the locally produced feature length motion picture “Out Of The Darkness.” The four week production will be utilizing local crew and vendors, with local actors and some from outside the State. The cast includes, Adam Davis, John Lewis, Graham Greene, Michael Joiner, Sherry Morris, and Stephanie Landrum. The film’s director is Shawn Justice, who grew up in North Portland with the film’s producer Sean Skelding.
