OPB And UO-SOJC To Air “Don’t Wait for the Quake” With Broadcast Audience Engagement Tool

Tonight, OPB-TV will re-broadcast “Don’t Wait for the Quake,” an event hosted by Oregon Public Broadcasting and the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) on Nov. 17. The program will air at 9pm PT, and although tonight’s show won’t be live, A Fourth Act’s audience engagement tool Harvis will be.We invite you to join in.

Some background: To promote public awareness and catalyze conversation, OPB and the SOJC convened a public forum on Nov. 17 about earthquake readiness in Oregon.

Congratulations to Portlander, Todd Haynes, nominated in the category of Best Director for “Carol“. The 76th Golden Globe Award nominees were announced today.  “Carol”, a 1950s romance, landed five nominations (including best picture, drama) altogether.

The Golden Globe Awards will take place January 10th in Los Angeles.

“Certain Women” (Kelly Reichardt) To World Premiere At Sundance 2016

Sundance announced today it’s world premiere festival lineup, and the latest Kelly Reichardt film, “Certain Women” (written and directed by Reichardt) is in the mix.  Although Reichardt, and her producer Neil Kopp,  have shot most of their projects in Oregon (“Night Moves“, “Meek’s Cutoff“,”Wendy and Lucy“, “Old Joy“) this film was shot elsewhere, but post was done here in the state.

“Certain Women” is about the lives of three woman who “intersect in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail”.

Green Production Gets Some Traction, Pre COP21

European Ecoprod and Film4Climate, joined forces, prior to COP21, to bring their collaboration to producers and crew members, in a one day workshop in Paris.  In addition to offering Best Green Practices, and information on carbon free production to filmmakers, the workshop introduced other tools to help green production, many of them similar to the resources Oregon Film has highlighted for go-green shows here in our state.  As the subject of climate change heats up, more and more production personnel are beginning to look at green options, especially if there is little, or no cost increase.

Winner Announcement!

Ashland local, Sean Nipper, has won the Samsung NX1 Sweepstakes.  Sean got his start in theatre and educational films in Ashland, southern Oregon.  He then moved to the bay area, and opened a small production company.  Nipper recently returned to southern Oregon to raise his family, where he now runs his new company, Reel House Films.
