Right here in Oregon, tucked away in Hillsboro since 2007, is one of the leading manufacturers of intelligent LED lighting instruments for the film and video production industry. Meet Zylight LLC, they build “easy-to-use LED lighting systems based on state-of-the-art technologies, producing fully calibrated bright white light, as well as any color – forever eliminating gels.” Zylight was formed in 2004 to bring “new levels of efficiency, flexibility, and creativity to the realm of film and video lighting”.
With AIFF just a little more than one month away, we wanted to update you on some new info. A full schedule of events should be up on AIFF’s website in a few weeks but here’s what has been announced to date.

A World Premiere of a Southern Oregon Production
We are very excited to announce the World Premiere of Redwood Highwaydirected by Gary Lundgren (Calvin Marshall, 2011 AIFF, Wow and Flutter, 2005 AIFF) and produced by James Twyman and Gary Kout.
The first screening of its kind — “Arc” is a theatrical program dedicated to the art, creativity and complexity of animated infographics. As its name suggests, the screening lies at the confluence of storytelling and data visualizations — an intersection that will be appeal to interaction designers, journalists, writers, researchers, number-junkies and analysts.
The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POWFest) organizers are excited to host acclaimed director, Penelope Spheeris, (Decline of Western Civilization I-III, Wayne’s World, Suburbia) as this year’s guest of honor, with a Director’s conversation following the screening of three of her films: DUDES, SUBURBIA and DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION III during POWFeston Saturday, March 9th at 2pm and 7pm .

MICHAEL BARTLETT’s Oregon made “House of Last Things” has been selected to premiere in competition in France January 30 – February 4th at the “20th International Festival du film fantastique de Gérardmer”. One of nine films selected for competition, the films in competition include Barry Levinson’s “The Bay,” and from Spain, “Mama”.
Cast includes Lindsey Haun (TRUE BLOOD), Blake Berris (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), and RJ MITTE (BREAKING BAD) in his first feature film role.
The Northwest Film Center is poised to yet again unleash PIFF excitement on film audiences of the Portland Metro area. The Opening Night presentation of the 36th Portland International Film Festival (PIFF) hits on Thursday, February 7th at the Newmark Theatre (1111 SW Broadway) with this year’s Spanish submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, BLANCANIEVES, a 1920s, silent- set reworking of the Brothers Grimm fairytale “Snow White,” offset by punchy Flamenco rhythms and full of imagination.
Beginning Friday, February 8th, PIFF expands to take over a clutch of venues across town, including the Whitsell Auditorium in the Portland Art Museum, Cinema 21, Cinemagic, Regal Fox Tower, World Trade Center, and Regal Lloyd Center 10. Ashland, Ore.—The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) today announced a multi-part transmedia showcase to be unveiled as part of the 12th annual festival, April 4 – 8, 2013 in Ashland.
