TNT Gives Green Light for New 10 Episode Series, “The Librarians”, to Shoot in Oregon
TNT has given the green light for a 10 episode order of a new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian“). Electric Entertainment produced the trilogy, and is also taking on “The Librarians”. TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here. Brittany Murphy’s “Something Wicked”, Begins Its Run In Oregon, April 11th.

We are excited to see “Something Wicked” roll out in Oregon next week (after it’s premiere April 4th in Eugene) before a wider release in coming weeks.

Union member listings enrich Oregon’s film, TV, commercial & interactive media production directory
To help studios and producers stay on top of crew and resources and to promote Oregon’s unique production advantages, the trade group Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) has released the 2014 SourceOregon, a directory of the professional crew, talent, vendors and support services that make up Oregon’s bustling industry. Portland Workforce Alliance Youth Careers Expo Had A Strong Turnout
Last week saw a strong turnout for the Annual Portland Workforce Alliance NW Youth Careers Expo. Oregon Film asked members of the production community to join us in showcasing an array of production job opportunities that are here in Oregon. With a staggering 5,000 students attending, it was a productive day showing future job possibilities in a hands-on way.
We thank Tim Oakley (Oakley Design Studios), who had some amazing hand-made props on display, LAIKA House, who brought sketch books for the students as well as a ParaNorman puppet with various “faces” to illustrate how stop-motion works; Koerner Camera had their RED camera running; Bent Image Lab had an array of their amazing puppets to examine; video game developer SuperGenius was on hand showing students the possibilities of working in the exiting gaming world; Loren Haleston talked through his remote controlled cameras for his high quality automotive video media business. Juliana Lukasik of @Large Films Appointed to Film Office Board
Juliana Lukasik, producer, director, and owner of @Large Films has been appointed by Governor John Kitzhaber to serve on the Governor’s Office of Film and Television board. Juliana’s term will begin on March 1, 2014.

FiLMLaB’s 2014 Script to Screen Competition Now Open
Willamette Writers is soliciting entries for the 2014 FiLMLaB Script to Screen short film scriptwriting competition. We seek writers with the ability to tell a compelling story quickly and cinematically, while adhering to a theme and a practical eye towards real-life movie production. Unique to scriptwriting contests, the Script to Screen Competition grand prize is this: we will produce a short film based on the winning script! OMPA Annual Meeting: Live stream 7pm Tuesday
Oregon Media Production Association celebrates achievements of commercial, film, TV and interactive media production in Oregon at their annual meeting on Tuesday night. The meeting will be streamed live beginning at 7pm PST and running for one hour. The streaming link can be found on www.ompa.org or by searching Livestream.com.

The Most Cinematic Book Trailer Ever Produced!
Producers Irl Davis and Randolph Sellars are proud to announce the upcoming release of “Polly, The Mystery of Bonney Canyon,” the highest production value book trailer ever produced. Book trailers are still relatively new as a media form. Unfortunately, the bulk of them have been made at a glaringly low production quality with cheap graphics, animated stills, and cheesy music.

Hollywood Theatre Spreading the Good Word on Hope For Film
I don’t know what’s appropriate when it comes to blogging about a blog, but it was brought to my attention that the good works at the Hollywood Theatre made it on Ted Hope’s “Hope For Film” blog this week and I needed to help spread the word. Justen Harn is the Director of Programs and Community Engagement at the Hollywood Theatre and his work along with Executive Director Doug Whyte continues to push the boundaries of what it means to be a movie theatre in the 21st Century.
