Tomorrow night sees “Grimm“‘s last season premiere – we will all be sad to say goodbye to the show’s quirky and murky portrayal of Portland’s fictitious underbelly, the real city locations, the Wesen, the Police precinct, and the many character actors and stars alike.  Six seasons, seven years in the making, and well over 100 episodes later, “Grimm” is set to come to an end, but it leaves behind a healthy and successful legacy of collaboration between the city, NBC, the many crew members, special effects houses, extras,  and literally hundreds of local services and vendors. Seaside was shot in Portland and the Coast in April with some great New York actors, including Ariana DeBose (Hamilton), and some wonderful Portland actors, including Jana Lee Hamblin, Haley Talbot, Bob Olin, Victoria Blake, Jennie Vaughn, and Brandt Leeds, all cast by Simon Max Hill.

Portland producer is Alyssa Roehrenbeck, Cinematographer Phil Anderson, and Production Designer Jade Harris. And our composer, Megan Diana McGeorge, is the creator of Portland’s Piano.Push.Play.

Outside the Frame seeks local Cinematographers, Sound Mixers, Gaffers, Editors, Composers, Animators, and other film industry professionals to join for our pool of paid mentors. Full and half day workshops sessions or post production work available.

Outside the Frame changes how homeless and marginalized youth see and are seen through film. We offer intensive film workshops and weekly programming where participants learn film making from pre-production to broadcast and create original films as a group. Bill Plympton Speaks, Oct. 15 & 16, UNDERGROUND USA

On Oct 15, 2016, two time Oscar nominee Bill Plympton will appear as a guest speaker at Oregon Cartoon Institute‘s one day symposium UNDERGROUND USA. The following evening he will introduce a program of his short films at the Mission Theater.

UNDERGROUND USA is one day public history/arts education event which focuses on one chapter of Oregon print cartooning history. It was created in partnership with UO Comics & Cartooning Studies and PSU Comic Studies, and with support from Oregon Historical Society. “Brother Nature”, Shot in Klamath Falls, Opened Sept 9th

Lorne Michael’s “Brother Nature” opened September 9th – shot in and around Klamath Falls (down town, Lake of Woods Resort, Keno, among others) for 15 days in the summer of 2014.  The feature brought much financial benefit to local businesses, as well as hiring many Oregon crew.  Starring Taran Killam (“12 Years a Slave”, SNL), Bill Pullman, (“Independance Day”, “Lost Highway”), (Gillian Jacobs “Community”), Bobby Moynihan (SNL, “Inside out” “Sisters”), Rita Wilson (“Sleepless In Seattle”), and Sarah Burns, Ellen Bloodworth, Giancarlo Esposito, Rachael Harris, Kumail Nanjiani, Kenan Thompson and David Wain, and produced by Lorne Michael’s, written by Taran Killam, Mikey Day and Cameron Fay, directed by Matt Villines and Osmany “Oz” Rodriguez.
