KINO Short Film Fest Open for Submissions

KINO is excited to share with Oregon filmmakers the KINO Short Film Fest. Proudly sponsored by Panavision and Final Draft. Top prizes include the Judge’s Choice Award of $25,000 and the People’s Choice Award of $5,000. Filmmakers also have the chance for KINO (a Film Finance Company) to transform their short film (or another idea) into a full-length feature film. No other film festival offers this.

Oregon Film Museum to Present “Selig Award”

The Oregon Film Museum seeks to inspire the next generation of storytellers in Oregon.  We are excited to announce the “Oregon Film Museum Selig Award” that will be presented annually to a young Oregonian involved in the local film industry.

Partnering with “Outside the Frame” we have identified the first recipient: Fevan “Rose” Solomon.

Solomon will receive the award and a small stipend on November 10 at the Liberty Theater in Astoria at 7:00 pm.  Solomon’s documentary film “Stories I’ve Told the Stars” will be screened followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker.  Continue reading... “Oregon Film Museum to Present “Selig Award””

Movies on Morrison starts Wednesday, October 11

To celebrate Portland’s production and media industry and to support local businesses and boost engagement within the Central City, the Events and Film Office at Prosper Portland is excited to activate downtown Portland vacant storefronts with a series of movies and TV shows filmed and/or produced here in Portland.

During Every Wednesday’s lunch hour in October, downtown street windows will come alive with screenings of film and TV content among displays inspired by the productions such as: LAIKA’s The Story So Far, James Beard Award-winning All the Homies Network, and NBC Universal’s Grimm. It’s great to watch movies set in your hometown.  For many of us, Free Willy is a childhood favorite. This Sept. 22nd, when attending the #OregonMade film event, pay close attention to the implicit biases that show up in this film. The last time I watched “Free Willy” two scenes left me shaking my head in disbelief.  How had I not noticed these scenes before?  Today, it’s my job to turn a critical eye toward all media and unpack biases. A 2023 Oregon filmmaker survey found that 1 in 3 respondents have either witnessed or experienced something non-consensual on professional film sets. And if they said something it was not addressed.

When harassment happens at work, people are almost always around–and if they aren’t around, they can be quickly summoned to show up. Our goal is to reduce instances of workplace harassment by giving employees the tools they need to disrupt those perpetrating the harassment.

Oregon OPIF Tax Credit Auction will be held Sept 18-22, 2023

Become a part of iconic #OregonMade productions and help create jobs and marketing value for Oregon.

Oregon’s Film, Television and media tax incentives are funded through an annual auction which creates the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF). This annual tax credit auction will take place starting at 9a on Monday, September 18, 2023 and run for 5 days until 5p on Friday, September 22, 2023.

$20M of Oregon state tax credits will be available to purchase in $500 increments by auction at a minimum bid of 90% of face value.
