“Wild” has been getting a lot of public and press attention in Ashland and Crater Lake in the last two weeks.  Reese Witherspoon has been adding interest by posting daily pictures from the film’s locations in southern Oregon.

Polluted Pictures premieres new film online

“Wild” Set to Film Throughout Oregon in October

A few months back it was announced that Portland based author Cheryl Strayed’s successful memoir “Wild” was being made into a feature film with Fox Searchlight producing and distributing the film.  Reese Witherspoon’s company Pacific Standard originally optioned the theatrical rights.  Acclaimed director Jean-Marc Vallée (recently directed “Dallas Buyers Club) is directing.  Now with just a few weeks to go before principal photography, it appears that the film will cover more parts of Oregon than any other project of recent memory. “C.O.G.” Made Its Oregon Premiere in Salem

“C.O.G.”, a film adaptation of a David Sedaris work, made it’s Oregon debut last night at the Salem Cinema, Salem’s only independently owned and operated movie theater specializing in art, foreign and independent film.   There was a big turnout and a full house for the reception, featuring cider from Wandering Aengus Ciderworks and apples from Oregon Heritage Farm – a featured location for the film, wine from Namaste Vineyards and fresh apple cider from E.Z. “Back O’Er Oregon” – A Musician’s Journey through Oregon’s State Parks

 Musician Slater Smith Embarks on a Quest to Visit all of Oregon’s State Parks While Shooting His Music Video

Slater Smith, frontman for the band The Weather Machine, began his quest to visit every state park in Oregon over the summer while shooting his music video for the band’s song “Back O’Er Oregon”.  The video will be a cinematic homage to Oregon’s beautiful and diverse state parks.  While planning this project Slater connected with Oregon’s Governor’s Office of Film and Television (Oregon Film) and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, and explored how to expand the project beyond just the music video. Featured Oregon Location: Yaquina Head (via GigaPan)

Oregon has many, viable location “looks” and not always what one might expect. The more obvious ones we have in abundance; rivers, mountains, trees, coast, lakes and farmland. Less known are; high desert, western style towns, sand dunes, gritty urban areas, vineyards, canyons and volcanic lava. We will be highlighting a specific Oregon location in each quarterly newsletter, and have partnered with Oregon company, GigaPan, by using their robotic mount technology to take detailed and vivid panoramic location pictures.

Second Half of 2012 is Booming With Indie Film Production in Oregon

Oregon has always been known as a great place for the independent film scene, and 2012 is no exception.  Since July, there have been four independent films that have been accepted as a part of the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund which was created in 2009.
