The new Hollywood Theatre @ PDX is getting ready to open later this month, the only airport theatre in the US! Read more from OPB.

“In partnership with the Port of Portland, the Hollywood Theatre is creating a movie theatre space in the airport’s C Concourse.  The Hollywood Theatre at Portland International Airport will feature short films by Oregon filmmakers and host special events and visiting guests.  Currently slated to open in early 2017, the new theater space will serve the Portland International Airport’s 16 million annual visitors, who can drop in free of charge to watch films while waiting for their flights.” Continue reading... “Hollywood Theatre Set To Open Later This Month At PDX”

I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore“, Macon Blair‘s directorial debut and produced by Oregonian, Neil Kopp, were honored with Sundance‘s top award, the Grand Jury prize in the US Dramatic Competition over the week end.

Macon Blair has a history in Oregon, as he starred-in, and co-produced, also with, Neil Kopp, another #OregonMade project, “Green Room“.  “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore”, shot in Oregon last spring. “Grimm” Gala Raises Over $800K For Doernbecher’s At Final Gala

Over the weekend, “Grimm”  NBCUniversal, Comcast, and Nike brought together cast, crew and attendees for the final time, to raise money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation.  Within 3 hours, over $800,000 was raised from the gala’s auction of unique items, and props, from the show that has called Portland their home for 7 years and 6 seasons.

LAIKA’s “Kubo And The Two Strings” Receives Two Oscar Nominations!

The 2017 Academy Award nominations are out!  Among them are two nominations for  LAIKA‘s #OregonMade “Kubo And The Two Strings” –  Animated Feature, and Visual Effects!

Kubo” joined; “Moana”, “My Life as a Zucchini”, “The Red Turtle”, “Zootopia” in the Animated Feature category, and “Deepwater Horizon”, “Doctor Strange”, “Jungle Book” and  “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” in the Visual Effects category.  Should “Kubo” win each category, Travis Knight  and Arianne Sutner would accept for Best Animated Feature, and Steve Emerson ,Oliver Jones, Brian McLean,Brad Schiff would accept for Best Visual Effects. Baker Heritage Museum Starting To Plan For 50th Anniversary of “Paint Your Wagon”

Paint Your Wagon” shot outside of Baker City, filming between May and October, 1968 – a western musical film starring Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, and Jean Seberg, adapted by Paddy Chayefsky from the 1951 stage musical by Lerner and Loewe.  “Wagon”was set in a mining camp in Gold Rush-era California, although the actual location of the main set was close to Baker City, and the Eagle Cap Mountains along East Eagle and Jack Creek. Horror Film Festival Haunts Southern Oregon On Nov. 12th

A one-night affair, geared to film-goers 18 years and older, the festival showcases genres that are arguably the most fun for independent filmmakers to create, and provides an atmosphere for horror fans to watch in a more social environment than a typical theater setting. Audiences often dress in costume, and the festival offers Special FX Makeup Booths in case viewers want to feel like a zombie for the night.
