Sometimes the answer can be long with explanations. Other times you have everything you need but have a hard time getting them all tightly bundled for easy consumption.
Today in the Hollywood Reporter, IFC officially announced the air date for the second season of “Portlandia”. The show will premiere on January 9 at 10:00PM. With the announcement came mention of more guest stars set to appear in the second season including Tim Robbins, Kristen Wiig and “30 Rock’s” Jack McBrayer. Knowing that there were as many as 20 guest stars slated to appear in this second season, we can’t wait to hear who else showed up in Portland to do a bit on the show. Katherine Wilson kicks off her Traveling Movie Museum on Friday from 4 to 7pm with an open house @ Jameson’s Retro Bar and Lounge, Broadway and Olive, downtown Eugene. A no-host bar is available. Jameson’s also provided the framing for over 30 images and posters from the iconic film. Many of them will be shown to the public for the first time since the filming 35 years ago. The exhibit ends Sept. 30th.

2011 Shaping up to be Big Year for Oregon Film and Television Jobs
The Governor’s office of Film and Television reports that 2011 will be the biggest year for total dollars spent on film and television projects in Oregon’s history. Two television series filmed in Oregon, “Leverage” and “Portlandia,” have already announced that their networks have renewed their series.
The videos embedded here are just two examples of testimony from local companies that have directly benefited from Oregon’s film incentive programs. These videos will be played for the Oergon State Legislature at the continuation of the initial house hearing (on HB 2167) this Friday. HB 2167 proposes increasing the annual amount allocated to the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF).
The Independent Film Channel is beginning to roll out more footage for the upcoming series “Portlandia”. At the film office, we’re waiting with baited breath for the premiere air date on January 21. Actually we’ve been invited to participate in the premiere party in New York City on January 19 as a sponsor. The premiere party will be at the Edison Ballroom in Mid Town Manhattan and IFC is committed to making the party all about Portland (rumor has it a popular local band will be performing).
