HD/Film Makeup Workshops Returning to Portland

Colour Box Makeup Studios founder Kerry Herta returns to Portland Aug. 31-Sept. 5 to teach aspiring makeup artists the latest techniques used in the entertainment and beauty industries.

Herta, a 2011 Daytime Emmy nominee, previously taught her signature workshops – the five-day Makeup Artist Boot Camp and one-day Airbrush Seminar – in Portland in June. The new dates will accommodate the growing waiting list of artists who couldn’t enroll in the last class.

Main Cast of Supernatural Thriller “Nightscape” Announced

MAIN CAST OF SUPERNATURAL THRILLER “NIGHTSCAPE” ANNOUNCED

Portland, Oregon—Writer-director David W. Edwards announced the main cast for his first feature film, Nightscape. The film stars, in alphabetical order: Emily Galesh, LaVerne Green, Joshua St. James and Jorge Madrid. The film shoots later this month in and around Portland.

In Nightscape, an emotionally guarded drifter, Kat (Galesh), crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. The drifter must learn to trust again if she is to end a lifetime of bad luck and to help her newfound companions survive the growing chaos and carnage. Canada has a new hero and his name is “El Tabador”, a 4-inch tall Mexican wrestler who warms your heart, tickles your funny-bone, and effortlessly works in a few good words about Koodo Mobile.

El Tabador follows in a long tradition of Lucha Libre fighters. He’s part detective, ladies’ man, and a righteous defender of justice and the creation of Portland-based Bent. To meet this brief, Bent drew Director Rob Shaw’s vast knowledge of Lucha Libre culture and worked closely with the TAXI 2 to design Tabador from first sketch to final computer-generated character. He was here in Oregon in the 60’s; in the town that Stan Brakage called “the Poetic Cinema Capitol of the World, Eugene, Oregon.” He arrived on the scene like his character in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest:” Randall Patrick McMurphy, to tell us we weren’t crazy, to legitimatize what we were trying to do with our 16mm cameras, and over the years, to help us get a break in the business.

My friend Ron Vidor, a Cinematographer who worked as a cameraman on “Five Easy Pieces” said that in 1969 Jack and the rest of the cast and crew were just traveling through on I-5, when Director Bob Rafelson saw the Eugene Denny’s Restaurant.
