2016 POWFest Call-For-Entries!

DSC_0012The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POWFest) is now accepting  entries for its ninth annual festival scheduled to take place March 3 – 6, 2016.  The regular deadline for entries is Friday, August 14, 2015.

 Deadlines & Fees

  •  Early Bird Deadline: Postmarked by June 19, 2015 ~ $25
     Regular Deadline: Postmarked by Friday August 14, 2015 ~ $35
     Late Deadline: Postmarked by Friday August 28, 2015 ~ $45
     Extended Deadline: Postmarked by September 11, 2015 ~ $55

#EOFF2015 Kicks Off May 7

The sixth annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival kicks off this Thursday, May 7, in La Grande, Oregon with the documentary feature PLANETARY at 7:00PM preceded by Danny Madden’s ALL YOUR FAVORITE SHOWS! A in-person Q&A with PLANETARY director Guy Reid will follow. The night will conclude with a celebration at The Art Center begginning around 9PM – TERMINAL GRAVITY will flow at the festival beer garden and good times will be had while witnessing performances by La Grande’s own HAM N’ CHEESE and our neighbors to the west – JAMES DEAN KINDLE AND THE EASTERN OREGON PLAYBOYS. “Wild” Locations Get Recognition At LMGA Awards

Congratulations to Nancy Haecker  (“Wild“),  who, at the second annual Location Managers Guild of America Awards, won for “Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film”.  The awards took place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Saturday night.

According to Variety, Haecker read Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, “Wild”, during a flight, and was so enthused that she wanted to scout the film project.   Even though most of the film plays for California, around 60 locations in Oregon were scouted by Haecker; from the high desert in central Oregon, the city of Ashland, Crater Lake, the Portland metro area, to the Bridge of the Gods in the Columbia River Valley Gorge.  Continue reading... ““Wild” Locations Get Recognition At LMGA Awards”

“GRIMM” – Back For Season 5

Good news for Oregon, NBC Universal announced today that “Grimm” is being picked up for Season 5.  The show, shot on stages and on location in Portland and the metro area, has been doing well on its Friday night time slot, with season 4 garnering over 7.2 million viewers all-told.  “Grimm” was one of five dramas NBC renewed for the 2015-16 season.

Director & Educator Andy Mingo

Andy Mingo is a Portland-based director/producer. He gained recognition as several of his films were included at national and international film festivals and screenings. His most recent film, ‘Romance’ was adapted from a story by ‘Fight Club’ author, Chuck Palahniuk. ‘Romance’ made its world premiere at the 2012 Raindance Film Festival and went on to screen at Cinequest, the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, and the 2013 Portland Film Festival. Governor’s Office of Film & Television Nominated For LMGA Award For Work On “Wild”

LMGAThe Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television (AKA The Oregon Film Office) has been nominated for consideration for a Location Managers Guild of America  Award for “exemplary work on WILD“.  Winners will be chosen after a vote from active and retired members of the LMGA the finalists were announced January 27th, with final balloting of the nominees taking place February 6th.  The second Annual Awards Show will be help in Los Angeles on March 7th.

Randall Jahnson has been a professional screenwriter for 30 years. He has delivered scripts for both large and small screens; in both studio and independent realms; in genres ranging from horror to historical.

He has worked closely with such film-making talent as Steven Spielberg, Jonathan Demme, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Spheeris, and Spike Lee. Among his produced credits are The Doors, The Mask of Zorro, Sunset Strip, Dudes, and episodes of the HBO cable series, Tales from the Crypt.
