Fox12’s “More” series has been focussing on “More Movies” and has recently highlighted two more local business owners, 360 Labs and Greg McMickle.

Oregonian, Todd’ “Hammer” Semmes, co-founded Spydercam, with Tim “Doc” Drnec, over 20 years ago in Hood River. Their unique creative rigging company has assisted over 60 feature films to get those often “impossible” looking shots by rigging their suspended camera systems with precision and creativity that does not compare to other traditional methods. With offices in Oregon, Colorado, (and equipment in Los Angeles and New York), Spydercam has significantly contributed to such movies as; “Transformer”, “Spyderman” , “The Avengers”, “The Life Of Pi”, “Mission Impossible I, II and II”, (see all their credits here.) We are looking for storytellers for the LAUNCH Student Film Competition with short films that are innovative, creative, original, inspiring, relevant, compelling, entertaining, thought-provoking, funny, and unique.

Do you have a great story to share? Here’s what you need to know:

No entry fee—it’s FREE!
Films need to be 5 minutes or under.
Genres include animation, claymation, documentary, or narrative—it’s up to you!
Five categories: grades K-5, 6-8, 9-12, college undergrads, and PridePrize.

NBC Universal’s “Grimm” begins season 5 just in time for Halloween, and will premiere October 30 (Fridays 9/8c). The first episode, “The Grimm Identity” promises that “vengeance rises from the ashes”, and this season will contain the 100th episode that Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) suggests will finally explain the ramifications of the “keys and coins”. Portland Opera And OMSI To Expand “Opera On Screen” Film Series

Portland Opera and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will expand their collaborative “Opera on Screen” film series this fall. “Opera on Screen” began in September 2014 with high-definition screenings of four San Francisco Opera productions.

The 2015 series will include four new San Francisco Opera titles—Verdi’s Aida, the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, and Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov—as well as two bonus screenings—a Halloween weekend duo of The Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney and Brian De Palma’s cult classic, Phantom of the Paradise, a contemporary adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera.

Portland Filmmaker Wins 9 National Telly Awards

Portland filmmaker David Poulshock and his production company Red Door Films were recently awarded an astounding nine Telly Awards for TV commercials and web videos they produced on behalf of clients Spirit Mountain Casino and Goodwill Industries of the Columbia-Willamette.

“It’s a real honor,” said Poulshock, “especially for the recognition it gives the wonderful talent and stellar production crews who worked on these projects.” According to Poulshock, the overall production included six :30 spots for Spirit Mountain Casino, and five :30 spots and four 3-minute web documentaries for Goodwill. The 2015 OPIF Tax Credit Auction is Currently Underway!

The 2015 OPIF Tax Credit Auction began Wednesday July 8 and continues through July 17.

The Oregon Department of Revenue is auctioning $10 million in OPIF tax credits.

Bids can be placed through the online auction at the following link:

http://www.oregon.gov/dor/PERTAX/Pages/credit-auction-info.aspx

20,000 increments of $500 tax credit certificates are available. Businesses and individuals with an Oregon income tax liability may bid on the certificates. The credit can be claimed on your 2015 state income tax return. Any amount that cannot be used on your 2015 tax return can be carried forward for up to three years. 2015 OPIF Tax Credit Auction Coming Up July 8-17

We just wanted to remind everyone that the Oregon Department of Revenue is planning to once again conduct a tax credit auction for the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) this July. The total amount of tax credits to be auctioned this year will be $10,000,000.

The process will be exactly the same as the successful auction conducted last July. We will be working hard to make sure all the tax credits sell out in the designated time frame. If we are successful in this goal, this will be the only opportunity for people to contribute to the fund and receive OPIF tax credits for 2015.
