“Gasoline Rainbow” Special Cast & Crew screening on Monday 12/18

Renowned filmmakers Bill and Turner Ross are bringing the film they shot in Oregon in the summer 2021 back to the area for its first screening on American soil, on December 18 at the Hollywood Theater. After its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, GASOLINE RAINBOW will screen for the local cast and crew that made it possible next Monday.

The film depicts five teenagers who have just graduated from high school and decide to go on a road trip before the dreaded approach of “real life” and all that it demands.

#OregonMade “It’s What’s Inside” to Premiere at Sundance 2024

#OregonMade feature film “It’s What’s Inside” – directed and written by Greg Jardin and produced by William Rosenfeld, Kate Andrews, Jason Baum, Raúl and Domingo — will premiere in the Midnight section at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

The film tells the story of a pre-wedding party descending into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend shows up with a mysterious suitcase. The cast includes Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Gavin Leatherwood, Reina Hardesty, Nina Bloomgarden.

#OregonMade “Can’t Seem to Make You Mine” Screening and Q&A

Fresh off of its World Premiere at Dances With Films in New York City, locally shot CAN’T SEEM TO MAKE YOU MINE, starring Zachary Ray Sherman, Lindsay Burdge, Jessica Barr, Journey Baker, and James “Jay Mack” McClendon, is coming home to Portland with a filmmaker Q&A after the screening.

The story revolves around a man recently released from prison as he tries to reconnect with his ex and become a father to his 6-year-old son, while he stays with a stripper he met through a prison pen-pal website.

Dear Producer Award: OPEN APPLICATION

In its ongoing commitment to amplify and support the role of the producer, Dear Producer is proud to be continuing the Dear Producer Award in 2024, and launching an open application for year three of the Award (in previous years, producers chosen for the Award were by industry recommendation only).

Four mid-career level producers will receive an unrestricted grant of $50,000 each, to be used at the producer’s discretion, and attend a retreat focused on rest and community-building with fellow Award recipients.

Call for Submission: FilmFort @ Treefort Music Fest 2024

Call for Submissions to Filmfort 2024! Filmfort is a 3-day programming track that takes place during Treefort Music Fest, celebrating the best of emerging independent cinema. Filmfort showcases diverse cinematic perspectives including shorts and features for audiences of all persuasions, ranging from the enigmatic and gritty to the surreal and off-beat.

Established at Treefort in 2014, Filmfort has been bringing a diverse slate of films and exceptional emerging and established filmmakers to Boise for over eight years. Notable feature films screened over the past couple of years include Jethica (2022), directed by Pete Ohs, Anchorage (2021) by Scott Monahan, as well as riveting shorts such as Weapons and their Names (2023) by Melina Valdez.

Women in Film PDX Announce Vision Grant Winners

Women In Film Portland (WIF-PDX) recently announced that local filmmakers Fran Bittakis and Betty Alcaraz are the recipients of the WIF-PDX 2023 Vision Grant, a signature program that supports production of a film by a local female or nonbinary storyteller every year. Over four dozen people applied for the 2023 funds. A committee made up of WIF-PDX board members and two award winning filmmakers, Alicia J. Rose and Dawn Jones Redstone, then reviewed applicants and narrowed it down to four finalists.

FujiFilm Presents: The Making of “CHISPA”

Recently Portland based filmmaker (and Tell Your Story Grant recipient) Karina Lomelin Ripper teamed up with FujiFilm to make her film “Chispa.”

FujiFilm then made a wonderful behind-the-scene short doc about the making of the film.

The Labor Market Comes to Old Town on Dec 9 & 10

THE LABOR MARKET: Portland film and TV workers put on a free weekend public market and maker fair in Old Town on December 9 and 10.

IATSE Local 488, representing Studio Mechanics (Motion Picture workers) in Oregon, Washington, Northern Idaho, and Montana will host The Labor Market, a holiday event for the general public from 10 am until 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 -10 in the Goldsmith Blocks Building on 412 NW Couch Street in Old Town Portland.

Oscilloscope Labs Release New Trailer – “Sometimes I Think About Dying”

Oscilloscope Labs released the official trailer for the #oregonamde indie film, “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and announced its release date, on January 26, 2024. The feature was produced by, and stars, Daisy Ridley (Star Wars prequel trilogy) and first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Set in Oregon, it cast features Ridley, Dave Merheje, Parvesh Cheena, Marcia DeBonis, and Bree Elrod. “Sometimes I Think About Dying“ is “an unexpected fable on the virtues of living.”
