Reese Witherspoon (and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea) have, of course, been getting all kinds of press attention for WILD , and now, more recently, their quest to find quality, female driven dramas.  Their production company, Pacific Standard, has only been around for two years, but already they have three projects (WILD, GONE GIRL, DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS) under their belt.

Cinema Pacific Festival Kicks Off In Eugene April 23rd

“Wild” Set to Film Throughout Oregon in October

Film stars Reese Witherspoon with Jean-Marc Valée directing

A few months back it was announced that Portland based author Cheryl Strayed’s successful memoir “Wild” was being made into a feature film with Fox Searchlight producing and distributing the film.  Reese Witherspoon’s company Pacific Standard originally optioned the theatrical rights.  Acclaimed director Jean-Marc Vallée (recently directed “Dallas Buyers Club) is directing.  Now with just a few weeks to go before principal photography, it appears that the film will cover more parts of Oregon than any other project of recent memory. 36th Portland International Film Festival in February

 

The Northwest Film Center is poised to yet again unleash PIFF excitement on film audiences of the Portland Metro area.  The Opening Night presentation of the 36th Portland International Film Festival (PIFF) hits on Thursday, February 7th at the Newmark Theatre (1111 SW Broadway) with this year’s Spanish submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, BLANCANIEVES, a 1920s, silent- set reworking of the Brothers Grimm fairytale “Snow White,” offset by punchy Flamenco rhythms and full of imagination.

Beginning Friday, February 8th, PIFF expands to take over a clutch of venues across town, including the Whitsell Auditorium in the Portland Art Museum, Cinema 21, Cinemagic, Regal Fox Tower, World Trade Center, and Regal Lloyd Center 10.
