DIVA Screens 2011 Oscar Nominated Live Action & Animated Shorts

Eugene, OR. The DIVA Center offers film enthusiasts the only local screening of the 2011 Oscar nominated live-action, and animated short film nominees February 18-19-20 and again on February 25-26-27. All screenings will take place at the UO Baker Center at 325 East 10th in Eugene. Admission: $7. Students: $6.

Each year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) recognizes non-feature length animated and live action films. Northwest Film Center Offers Two New Community Meet-Up Groups

Portland-based Animator and Students Help Create “Community” Holiday Episode

Fans of the NBC comedy Community have been looking forward to tonight’s Holiday episode, in which the show’s cast is transformed into holiday-special-style stop motion characters.  Where did the producers of Community look when they were searching for someone to create these Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer-like stop motion characters?

According to the Oregonian’s Kirsti Turnquist, the producers turned their eyes north to Portland, where they found animation specialist Teresa Drilling.  Drilling, who won an Emmy in 2008 for her work on Creature Comforts, worked “around the clock” for two months on the NBC comedy… and she also took four Art Institute of Portland students along for the ride! HDFEST Portland High-Definition Film Festival, December 6th-9th

HDFEST PortlandPast festival events have taken place in Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Chicago, London… and now PORTLAND!  HDFEST Portland is taking place December 6th-9th at the Living Room Theaters. Tickets are $9 and are available at the festival box office and through the web.

The iOPIF Program Does Its Job – Funds Fully Committed
