With AIFF just a little more than one month away, we wanted to update you on some new info. A full schedule of events should be up on AIFF’s website in a few weeks but here’s what has been announced to date.
A World Premiere of a Southern Oregon Production
We are very excited to announce the World Premiere of Redwood Highwaydirected by Gary Lundgren (Calvin Marshall, 2011 AIFF, Wow and Flutter, 2005 AIFF) and produced by James Twyman and Gary Kout.
With more film incentives for Oregon, producers are looking at Portland to shoot more upcoming shows and films, most of which require actors to perform their own basic action. But the actor MUST know the essentials.
Date: March 24th, 1 – 4 PM
Location: Crossfit Hillsdale
Class Content: We’ll cover the action essentials that actors need to walk onto set, giving students an edge over the competition. We’ll break down, recreate, and shoot an action scene from NBC’s hit show, Grimm.

Good Works Film Festival is honored to present three-screenings of Patrick Wang’s debut masterpiece, In the Family. This highly acclaimed narrative film will be shown at Bijou Art Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, March 17th at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Patrick Wang, filmmaker and actor will be in attendance for all screenings to introduce the film and for a post-screening Q&A discussion. The first screening of its kind — “Arc” is a theatrical program dedicated to the art, creativity and complexity of animated infographics. As its name suggests, the screening lies at the confluence of storytelling and data visualizations — an intersection that will be appeal to interaction designers, journalists, writers, researchers, number-junkies and analysts.
Synopsis:
In a culture now supersaturated with colossal reams of information, it’s all we can do to stay afloat and make sense of it all.
We know the cat is likely out of the bag but we can now confirm that the upcoming TNT Pilot starring Oscar Winner Geena Davis will be shot here in Oregon. We’re thrilled to have yet another project from TNT and director/producer Dean Devlin. Dean and his team at Electric Entertainment have been instrumental in Oregon’s film and television industry growth over the past few years. Here’s to hoping that this pilot leads to yet another multiple year project much like what “Levereage” was for the past four years!
On Sunday at this year’s WGA awards IFC’s “Portlandia” won a WGA award for best Comedy/Variety Series. By most accounts this was an upset for the show as the other nominees included six time winner “Saturday Night Live”, “Conan”, “The Daily Show”, “The Colbert Report”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, and “Real Time with Bill Maher”. The show continues to grow both audience and acclaim. The season 3 premiere of the show was up 30% from season 2 and the web companion to the show Kumail Tours Portlandia has been a nice surprise on IFC’s website.
The indie comedy “Vampire Camp” was honored with the Best Feature award at the Vampire Film Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10.
“Vampire Camp” was produced in the Rogue Valley with an all-Oregon cast and crew. The film was directed by Ray Nomoto Robison of Medford and written by Robison and Cathy Stadtfeld of Central Point. The 78-minute comedy follows an unsuspecting vampire hunter who is preyed upon by a group of vampires.
Portland filmmaker Jackie Weissman is excited to announce the Portland preview of her documentary ROCK N ROLL MAMAS next month on Thursday March 7, 2013 on the opening night of The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POWFest).
ROCK N ROLL MAMAS is a 60 minute documentary about three indie rockers who strive to follow their creative dreams and raise their children. Over the course of six years, director, Jackie Weissman, followed Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, Zia McCabe of The Dandy Warhols, and Portland hip hop artist, Ms.Su’ad.
