Of the five major broadcast television networks’ 23 new one-hour dramas offered up last year, only two were filmed in Hollywood. State tax incentives from outside California have successfully lured many productions to other economies, and created a growing market for a variety of property owners in Oregon as location providers. Indicating the extent to which films are made outside the confines of studio lots in America, about five years ago- when California still commanded the lion’s share of the film location market -Los Angeles County issued permits for over 30,000 film location days, with about 75% of Southern California’s location filming shooting in private residences.

NBC Universal’s, Season 3 of “Grimm” Premieres Strong – More Great Episodes to Come

NBC Universal’s “Grimm” returned for its third season Friday and started up right where it left off.  The season 3 premiere was actually up in the ratings from the season 2 premiere and helped launch NBC’s friday night premiere of “Dracula”.  Here’s one quick analysis from the Hollywood Reporter.  If you were on Twitter during the friday night broadcast, you know that the show is a hit on Twitter as well.  During the 9:00pm west coast broadcast the cast was live tweeting and that with the fan interaction made “Grimm” one of the top trending topics on twitter.

Hinge Digital’s All-CG Spot for Renault

What car powers through all seasons?  The Mégane by Renault, perfectly envisioned using full CG and VFX – no live action shoot needed.

In collaboration with directing team Andrew Nawrot and Sonja Jasansky, the Hinge creative team developed this all-CG spot for the Renault Mégane in just under two weeks. The spot features dramatic lighting as well as naturalistic visual effects of water, smoke and haze.

“House of Last Things” is Big in Russia… Gains 1st Distribution Deal

 

Congrats to HOUSE OF LAST THINGS on their first international release today in Russia through CMS FILM. The Bartlett directed thriller was one of Oregon’s first independent features to recieve an i-OPIF grant. The film premiered in France in January and has since been selected for festivals in Brazil, Germany, and Mexico. The Russian package includes theatrical, dvd, and online

OPIF Tax Credit Auction is Open – DOR Website is Up

The October Oregon Production Investment Fund Auction is now open.  This time the total amount of tax credits to be auctioned will be $4,000,000.  The process will be exactly like the successful auction conducted in July.  It’s important to know that there is only time for one more OPIF auction this year so we will be working hard to make sure all $4,000,000 sells out in the designated time frame.
