SOAR ~ A New Documentary By Local Director Susan Hess Logeais Premieres Thursday October 22nd at The Hollywood Theatre

Your concept of what’s possible is about to change!

SOAR, a new documentary featuring local dancers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd and directed by local filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais, will premiere on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 pm.  The screening will take place at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland), and will feature a Q&A with the director Susan Hess Logeais as well as co-producers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd. Tickets are available in advance at the Hollywood Theatre website or at the door for $10, $5 for Students (with ID).

32 Northwest Performers Selected to Complete 36-Hour Actor Training Intensive for Film & Television

(PORTLAND, OR) Thirty-two Northwest actors have been chosen to complete a six-week intensive training program, as part of a new Talent Diversity Initiative to take place this fall in Portland. The program is being produced by Cast Iron Studios, in partnership with Act Now Studio and Scott Rogers Studios, and will be sponsored by TNT.

“Out Of The Darkness” Feature Production Begins

Out Of The Darkness, Day OneOctober 8, 2015 (Portland, Oregon) In the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland, the first day of production was conducted of the locally produced feature length motion picture “Out Of The Darkness.” The four week production will be utilizing local crew and vendors, with local actors and some from outside the State. The cast includes, Adam Davis, John Lewis, Graham Greene, Michael Joiner, Sherry Morris, and Stephanie Landrum.  The film’s director is Shawn Justice, who grew up in North Portland with the film’s producer Sean Skelding.

Portland-Based Film “Birds of Neptune” Has Acquired Distribution Through Brinkvision

 

BONposterplainSteven Richter’s feature film “Birds of Neptune” has been acquired by Brinkvision for US distribution.  The film is scheduled to be released on DVD and VOD in early 2016.

The award winning film “Birds of Neptune” was shot in Portland, Oregon with an all local cast and crew and all local vendors.  It premiered at Slamdance early this year and has since gone on to screen at festivals throughout the US  and was the opening night film at the Portland Film Festival.

Casting Talent Workshop With Scott Ballard

Casting Talent Workshop: October 24th, 10AM-4Pm, $75.

If you have ever wondered how the casting process works or could use some guidance on better communicating with actors, this one-day workshop with director Scott Ballard, is a great place to start. Over the course of the day, workshop particpants will serve as the director in a mock casting session with professional actors and get inside the art and the technique of assessing and selecting the right talent.

“Voyagers Without Trace” To Premiere At OMSI October 22

On Thursday, October 22nd, NW Documentary will present the Grand Premiere ofVoyagers Without Trace”, a feature documentary directed by Ian McCluskey. This film invites views on a treasure hunt with the filmmaker, to uncover what happened to three French adventurers who became the first to kayak down the Green and Colorado rivers in 1938, but then disappeared into obscurity.

Eugene’s 3rd Annual EFS 72 Hour Horror Film Contest

The Eugene Film Society and Ninkasi Brewing present the 3rd Annual EFS 72 Hour Horror Film Competition. From October 22-25, regional filmmakers will compete to make the best short horror film within 72 hours incorporating a mandated line of dialogue and prop.

Films submitted by deadline will be screened by a jury of media professionals and an audience at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts on Halloween night. The filmmaker awarded the “Jury Prize” will receive a $1,000 award and the filmmaker given the “Audience Award” will also receive a $1,000 prize.

NBC Universal’s “Grimm” begins season 5 just in time for Halloween, and will premiere October 30 (Fridays 9/8c). The first episode, “The Grimm Identity” promises that “vengeance rises from the ashes”, and this season will contain the 100th episode that Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) suggests will finally explain the ramifications of the  “keys and coins”.  Stay tuned!
