AIFF Announces 2016 Award Winners – Oregon and Pacific Northwest Films Win Over Juries and Audiences

The Ashland Independent Film Festival announced its highly anticipated juried and audience award-winning films for work screened at the 15th annual festival, April 7-11, 2016, where films made in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest received a warm welcome and took home top awards.

HouseSpecial Brings CustomInk’s ‘Spokestopus’ To Life In Stopmotion

April 18, 2016 (PORTLAND, OR) Introducing Steve the Spokestopus. He’s a new animated super fan created by content production studio HouseSpecial for CustomInk, the leading provider of custom apparel and accessories for groups and communities. The multi-spot campaign is a collaboration with Los Angeles ad agency SUPERMOON (SUPERMOON.com) and debuts this month on broadcast and digital media platforms.

HouseSpecial’s Mark Gustafson (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Planters Mr. Peanut, Häagen-Dazs) helmed the spots and teamed with SUPERMOON’s Executive Creative Director and Partner David DeRoma to refine the initial scripts and develop the Steve character for animation.

NW Animation Fest – Biggest US Animation Film Fest Of Its Kind – May 9-15 + 20-22

You Can Come Home Again – Seaside, The Movie

Seaside – the movie.
After being born and raised in Portland, I moved east for college and film school. I love coming back to Portland to visit family and friends but for the past 20 years New York has been my home. That old cliché that you can never come home again ringed true for me.

My first feature, You Belong to Me, came out in 2008. Since then I’ve been itching to do another feature. And inspired by the resourcefulness of many colleagues (especially NYU film school colleagues, Annie Howell and Lisa Robinson – find their new feature, Claire in Motion, which just premiered at SXSW) I’ve come home to take advantage of Oregon’s natural beauty, talented creatives, and a family beach house at the Coast, to make my next feature, Seaside.

Production & Post Intern Position At Northwest Documentary

This position will split time between work for NW Documentary Arts & Media and their in -house projects and working with the resident filmmaker of the Indie Doc Incubator program.

NW Documentary is a non-profit that practices, teaches, and shares the art of non-fiction storytelling. NW Doc offers post-production and photography classes and produces its own independent documentary productions. More at www.NWdocumentary.org
