PDX Latinx Pride Presents: Noche de Película (September 16th, 2018)

Being part of the PDX Latinx Pride planning and organizing committee has satisfied many parts of us, the members. The group wants to build community and heal ourselves through workshops, retreats and conversations. We also seek to see ourselves in many parts of the artistic spectrum. In fact, creating safe spaces and diversifying art in many mediums has been a goal for many of us. The majority of the committee is made up of multi-media artists. We are made up of musicians, performers, writers, designers, directors, as well as the ever creative parts of our organizing that may appear not to be, like finances, outreach and moderating.

New Documentary: “Dreams of the Bubble People”

With the help of Sally Spaderna of Koerner Camera Systems, we are starting a new documentary project with the goal of Netflix distribution: “Dreams of the Bubble People”.  It may sound silly, but I assure you: do not underestimate the unexpected, and very human story of: “The Amazing Bubble Man” His name is Louis Pearl, and I would like to tell his story, and show his world.

“American Vandal” – Season 2 – Premiered September

The new trailer is out for American Vandal’s second season (maybe NSFW.)

The #OregonMade season 2 of “American Vandal” will premiere Friday, September 14th, 2018 and will consist of 8 episodes that all shot in and around Portland metro. CBS Television Studios, Funny or Die, and 3Arts produced in partnership for Netflix.  The mockumentary series is a parody of true crime documentaries such as, “Making a Murderer,” and similar in tone to the popular first series, however, series 2 will focus on a new group of students solving a crime in a new school.

OMPA to host networking event with “Isle of Dogs” Production Designer

Oregon Media Production Association Mixer with Paul HarrodJoin Oregon Media Production Association on August 28 for an exciting evening immersed in the local production scene!

Portland-based production designer Paul Harrod will kick things off with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Wes Anderson’s new stop-motion film, Isle of Dogs. We’ll get to see how the director’s distinct artistic sensibilities informed every step of the process, from design through fabrication, and ultimately shooting and performance.

After a Q&A, we’ll open the night up for casual networking on Ziba’s rooftop patio.

Oregon’s International Bohemian Film Festival Announces ‘Big Sonia’ as Grand Prize Winner

The winning filmmaker, Leah Warshawski and her Oregon-raised animator, Dawn Norton, received a $3,000 grand prize as the Best Film. The winner aims to take the proceeds to launch high school curricula about overcoming the obstacles of our past and becoming stronger.

COTTAGE GROVE, ORE., 18 AUGUST 2018 – “Big Sonia” won the overall $3,000 Grand Prize at this weekend’s inaugural Bohemian Film Festival. The film – featuring 90-year-old Holocaust survivor who still goes to work everyday and stays busy so she “doesn’t have to think about it” – explores what it means to be a survivor, how this affects families and generations, and how trauma might define each of us.

Eastern Oregon Film Festival is proud to announce its Official Selections for the 2018 Festival. An intimate gathering nestled in downtown La Grande OR, #EOFF2018 will feature film screenings, special events, and live music at The Granada Theatre and our own creative space, hq, as well as an Online Program consisting of 14 films—exclusively available to watch at Filmmaker Magazine

 

#EOFF2018 will open with director Bridey Elliot‘s hilariously-spooky debut feature CLARA’S GHOST (pictured above), in which she cast her entire family to play its dysfunctional protagonists.

Women in Film Production Grant Accepting Applications!

BendFilm is now accepting project applications for a women-led production to be filmed in Central Oregon. Female identifying filmmakers in the following counties are eligible to apply: Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson, Wasco, Wheeler, Lake and Klamath.
