Ninth Annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival Celebrate Film, Music, And Community

LA GRANDE – Eastern Oregon Film Festival invites you to visit La Grande, Oregon for the ninth annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival held October 18-20 in downtown La Grande. The intimate gathering will feature twelve film screening blocks, both feature-length and short format across multiple genres, held at The Granada Theatre and EOFF’s own creative mixed-use space, hq, along with three evenings of after party showcasing emerging musical talent. The stunning landscapes of Oregon have been a great inspiration for the past 25 years. I have been exploring and photographing around Oregon and the NW since 1993.

After graduating from photo school at the Rochester Institute of Technology and a couple years as the park photographer for Yosemite National Park, I found my way to Portland and have been loving it ever since.

Several years as a photo assistant and photographer gave me the experience to know what a crew may need from a location, and what may go wrong once the crew is on site.

Oregon Film & Oregon State Parks Plant 50 Trees in Celebration of 50 Years Of Oregon Film Office (Plus The First Historic Oregon Film Trail Sign Is Installed)

The Oregon Film Office and Oregon State Parks planted 50 Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Douglas-fir, and Western Hemlock seedlings conifer trees at Gleneden Beach State Recreation site to mark the 50th anniversary of the Oregon Film Office and its long standing collaboration with Oregon State Parks.

Additionally, at this site, a sign was erected as part of the recently created the Historic Oregon Film Trail. The sign indicates that the movie, “Sometimes A Great Notion” was filmed very close to the park and in and around the Siletz River area.

“The Portland Circuit’s” Inaugural Season Is Underway

This week the Willamette Week did a great job of covering the inaugural Portland Circuit.

The Portland Circuit, a collaboration between the #OregonMade Creative Foundation, the Northwest Film Center, the Hollywood Theatre, the Clinton St. Theater, and Cinema 21, has been created to provide a local theatrical run for #OregonMade feature films. This initial pilot program will select feature-length films and allow them to have a paying audience screening in four of the most dynamically programmed independent theaters in Portland.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival is expanding its year-round programming with a new series, Best of the Fests, which will offer audiences a second chance to see some of the best and most requested films from the most recent AIFF, along with other films generating excitement on the film festival circuit. The series will launch with a “Best of the Fests Weekend” September 21-23 at the Varsity Theatre in Ashland and the Collaborative Theatre Project in Medford and continue with screenings at Eugene’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in October and November.

Did you know that the film, television, animation and interactive industry is now directly spending more than $200M and supporting more than 4000 jobs per year?

And all of this work is supported through the Oregon Production Investment Fund and that fund is dependent on the sale of tax credit, via online auction, to Oregon resident and corporate tax payers.

So, we wanted to make sure that you are aware of the second OPIF tax credit auction now set to open at 9a on Monday, September 24, 2018 and run until 5p on Friday, September 28, 2018.
