New #OregonMade Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – Production Underway

In late 2017, the Oregon Made Creative Foundation (in partnership with Oregon Film,) Travel Oregon, Danner Boots, and the Portland Film Office at Prosper Portland partnered together to bring  funding for a new grant: The Outdoor Adventure Film Grant.

This Grant has enabled our filmmakers, Emilia Quinton and Liz Haan to begin creating a short film that specifically showcases the spirit, passion, and excitement of the outdoor-adventure, or action sports film genres in the state of Oregon and today, we’re excited to share some behind the scenes of what the grantees have been up to! BendFilm’s “Women Filmmaker Production Fund” Is Up And Running

Help BendFilm fund the production of a local, women-led short film to be shot in Central Oregon. They only need $2,500 from this campaign to match a $2,500 grant from the Roundhouse Foundation. “The gender disparity in our industry is embarrassingly low and we need to be the spark that creates change!”

Here’s how the film production process will work:

– With your help, raise $2,500 through July 18th via this Seed&Spark Campaign.

From Oregon to L.A. and back again | BLACKSTAR WARRIOR

I thought one could only make film in Hollywood. Then, I made a short in Portland and it changed my life.

Our stars Mindy Machen and Leonard Roberts in the cockpit of the Blackstar built by production designer Jubal Nance and art director Rob Taylor.

Los Angeles was the place I flew down to for meetings between long walks on beaches that felt hotter than the surface of the sun. Everything about L.A. felt like the polar opposite of Portland, the place where I had lived and worked as a comic book artist for years, first for Dark Horse and then for Marvel & DC, all the while coming up with ideas for film and television, ideas that made me feel excited not just as a creator but as a viewer. Portland Film Community Presents!

June 24th at the Clinton St. Theater 6-9pm will be the first “Portland Film Community” event. We will be showing off the best of the Portland Film Community “Pick of the Month” which we have been posting every month for the last three years.

After that we will be showing a local feature independant film, that is packed full fabulous local talent.

Fastlife: An Oregon Family and Racing Documentary Series

 

A local auto dealer and his filmmaker wife have launched a documentary series on the international stage of Amazon Prime available for streaming now.

Derek DeBoer, an Oregon auto dealer, and his wife Brooke, a Southern Oregon Filmmaker teamed up in 2014 to create Fastlife, a show about a family striving to live their dreams amidst all the realities of every day life.

POWGirls Announces Summer 2018 Workshops

POWGirls offers workshops in video production, cinematography, audio recording, set lighting, digital editing and media literacy for girls and non-binary youth ages 15-19. Our instructors are working media producers who inspire participants to be creative, tech-savvy leaders who will help realize gender equity in the film industry. All films produced during POWGirls workshops are screened at the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Film Fest).

“Leave No Trace” Selected For Director’s Fortnight At Cannes


Debra Granik’s #OregonMade “Leave No Trace” is one of 50 films that have been selected to screen during the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Fetsival this year.  “Leave No Trace”  already premiered at Sundance and received rave reviews.  Sony Pictures Worldwide was quick to acquire international rights, and Bleecker Sreet has aquired North Americn rights. “Leave No Trace,” set in Portland’s Forest Park, tells the tale of  Will and his teenage daughter, Tom, who “have lived off the grid, blissfully undetected by authorities in a vast nature reserve on the edge of Portland. Northwest Filmmaker Lynn Shelton’s Latest Film Opens In Portland & Vancouver April 6

 

Fresh from SxSW, OUTSIDE IN is Lynn Shelton’s latest project. It was shot in Granite Falls, Washington, and stars Edie Falco and Jay Duplass.

OUTSIDE IN opens April 6 at Cinema 21 in Portland and Kiggins Theater in Vancouver. Lynn will be there for Q&As on April 7!

After serving 20 years for the crime of essentially being in the wrong place at the wrong time, 38-year-old Chris (played by co-writer Jay Duplass, TRANSPARENT, LANDLINE) is granted early parole thanks largely to the tireless advocacy of Carol (award winner Edie Falco, NURSE JACKIE, THE SOPRANOS), his former high-school teacher. Sundance To Premiere Both Debra Granik’s & Gus Van Sant’s New Films

Sundance Film Festival announced its lineup today and we are pleased to see that Debra Granik‘s (“Winter’s Bone”) new feature, “Untitled Debra Granik Project” was just accepted in the festival’s World Premiere section.  Granik wrote (with Anne Rosellini) and directed this #OregonMade film. “A father and daughter live a perfect but mysterious existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, Oregon, rarely making contact with the world. A small mistake tips them off to authorities sending them on an increasingly erratic journey in search of a place to call their own.
